Iberian Ambassador of the Month 
Merci Monsieur Donald "Doc" Voorhies for all you do for Iberia Parish! Monsieur Doc will receive the Leaders in Philanthropy Award by the Community Foundation of Acadiana this Friday, Nov. 14 in Lafayette. 

Monsieur Doc is a longtime supporter of the Bayou Teche Museum, the Belgian Student Exchange Program, Nativity Catholic Church, and has served on the board of Shadows-on-the-Teche and the Iberia Performing Arts League (IPAL). In addition to acting and directing at IPAL, he also supervises publicity and outreach activities. He lends a hand to other community programs including New Iberia beneath the Balconies and El Festival Español de Nueva Iberia.

Industry News 

  • Madame Fran Thibodeaux, our executive director, attended Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne's Tourism Town Hall in Lafayette this October with Madame Tammy Gordon, community relations coordinator at the Port of Delcambre and Madame Brittany Gordon, manager or the Delcambre Seafood and Farmers Market. Tammy won the door prize, a John Besh cookbook!

  • We have launched our Blue Magic on Main campaign promoting all our Iberia holiday events. Two components of the campaign include:
  • #ShopBerryBlue promoting holiday shopping and #ShopSmall Day in Iberia Parish.

Please help us spread the word, use the hashtags on social media and come pick up your Blue Magic on Main flyers and poster at our visitor center today!














  • ATTENTION BUSINESS OWNERS! Join the New Iberia Downtown Business Association (DBA), the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce and IPCVB in preparing for #ShopSmall / Small Business Saturday (Nov. 29). DBA will distribute FREE Shop Small tote bags, door mats, balloons, decals, signage and more TOMORROW at their Nov. 11 meeting from 9-10 a.m. at the Sliman Theater (Evangeline Theater). They will also discuss the upcoming Blue Magic on Main Christmas Parade to be held Dec. 13 and the Shopping Extravaganza planned all day on Saturday prior to the parade. You WON'T want to miss this meeting!

  • Last Sunday, the Jeanerette Museum unearthed a time capsule and unveiled its latest exhibit, Yesterday's Tomorrows: Uncovering the Past, comprised of details of Jeanerette history along with students vision of Jeanerette's future.







New Acadia Project Researchers

  • Projet Nouvelle Acadie received a grant from the Coypu Foundation, founded by the estate of the late John S. McIlhenny, to pursue its search for the campsite of the first Acadians along Bayou Teche in Loreauville. Iberia Parish and the IPCVB also contributed monies.

 


 

 

  • The new Bayou Carlin Cove facility will have its first holiday market on Nov. 13.
