Shadows-on-the-Teche to host Evening Under the Oaks Oct. 30

The Shadows-on-the-Teche Advisory Council will hold its annual Evening Under the Oaks Dinner/Auction at the Sliman Theater in New Iberia on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $125 per person and tables of eight are available for $1,000. Included in the ticket price is an open bar cocktail hour followed with a delicious dinner from Clementine Catering by Peltier's including seafood gumbo, spinach salad with Steens Syrup vinaigrette, filet with grilled shrimp, seasonal vegetables, dessert, and wine.

Entertainment will be provided by some of Acadiana's Dancing With the Stars
past contestants: Martha Brown and Cecil Broussard, Danelle Renard and Scott Saunier, and Liz Simon DeJean and Ted Viator. In addition to the dancers, guests will be treated to some great music by acclaimed fiddler and 2014-2015 Shadows Artist in Residence David Greely, plus a very special appearance by Mary Weeks Moore. All in all, it promises to be a most enjoyable evening!

Some great auction items will be up for bid, including Easter week at Cypremort Point, a week in the Colorado Mountains, as well as dinners from Des Amis, le Triomphe, Mazen's Grill, Petroleum Club, and Clementine, to be served at the Shadows, Andy Reaux's compound, and other special locations. Paintings by Acadiana artists, a wine tasting party, Shadows Old Fashions, and much, much more will be available in the silent auction.

Proceeds from this event will be used to install lighting in the Shadows gardens to allow for evening events and security. The Shadows-on-the-Teche, is a National Trust Historic Site, but they are responsible for earning 100 percent of their annual operating budget, receiving no federal or state funding.
