Lt. Gov. Dardenne invites citizens to Lafayette Tourism Town Hall Meeting

WHO: Office of the Lieutenant Governor

WHAT: Tourism Town Hall

WHEN: Oct. 15, 2014 from 9 - 11 a.m.

WHERE: Vermilionville, 300 Fisher Rd., Lafayette, La.

Southwest Louisiana citizens are invited to participate in a tourism town hall meeting hosted by Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne. The town hall will focus on the Acadiana region including Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes. The purpose of the meeting is to solicit input from the community about the area's tourism industry and its growth potential, opportunities for economic development and infrastructure improvement. Citizens are asked to share their thoughts, ideas and vision for the area's tourism industry.

Information gathered at the meeting will be used to compile a report to guide Louisiana's tourism industry in continuing its recent record-breaking impact on the state and to identify how the Louisiana Office of Tourism can provide a partnership for success.

Lt. Governor Dardenne hosted a similar town hall in Shreveport last month and will host a third meeting in Monroe Oct. 28.

NOTE: Lt. Governor Dardenne will be available for interviews.
