NEW IBERIA, La. --- On Nov. 1, 2014, Avery Island will celebrate its inaugural Jungle Gardens 5K and 1 mile fun run where all proceeds will be donated to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
The event will begin at 8 am with a full schedule of events. The running event will be immediately followed by food, entertainment and awards. All entrants will have a full day pass to explore the gardens and enjoy the area.
The event organizers, Team FSS, and event sponsors, Fire & Safety Specialists, are donating all proceeds to St. Jude Children's Hospital and are expecting a large field of runners and walkers for the event.
The race will wind through Jungle Gardens' unique terrain. Because of its hills and rough path sections, the course layout will make for a tough and rewarding run, excellent for advanced as well as novice runners.
Early registration for the 5K is open through Oct. 15 and costs $30. After Oct. 15, registration will cost $35. The 1-mile fun run costs $20. Toll and entry to the gardens for the day are included in the price.
Visit JungleGardens5K.com for more information, or to register. If you would like to register by mail, contact Darrin Roddy or Brooke Hebert at (337) 993-9377, [email protected], [email protected].
