NEW IBERIA, La. --- Iberia Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau is pleased to welcome Germaine Comeaux, the new at-large board member on the Iberia Parish Tourist Commission.
Comeaux was appointed by the Iberia Parish Council at its May 14, 2014 meeting. As one of the two at-large commissioners, she will assist the other board members with enhancing and marketing Iberia Parish's tourism industry.
"I am very excited to have the opportunity to promote the wonderful place where I live as a destination for leisure and business travelers," said Comeaux. "I believe there is much potential for growing Iberia Parish's market share of tourism and convention dollars. I'll work to spread awareness of all that our parish has to offer as a beautiful, unique area, with a fun vibe, interesting culture and delicious food."
"We appreciate Mrs. Comeaux's volunteer service to the parish and are very excited to have her join our team," said Fran Thibodeaux, executive director of the Iberia Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau. "We had the honor of working with Mrs. Comeaux recently to promote the Joe Daigre Bridge Grand Opening Walk and look forward to her insight in promoting Iberia Parish as a destination."
Current board commissioners include Margaret Melancon (chairman), Darnelle Delcambre (vice chairman), Debbi Mitchell (secretary/treasurer/Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce), Gail Garcia (event community), Gi Gi Patout-LeBoeuf (restaurant community), and Francine Garzotto (at-large).
Comeaux's first meeting as commissioner was on June 24, 2014, with her term running until Jan. 31, 2017.
