Lao New Year takes place over Easter weekend, April 18-20, in Coteau with a three-day festival including music, a pageant, parades, sand castle building, kids activities, and several vendors. Lanexang Village was created in the early 1980s by refugees from the fighting in Southeast Asia, and today Iberia Parish is home to roughly 67 families. The Lanexang's temple's name is Wat Thammarattanaram.

On April 19 from 4 - 7 p.m. come out for New Iberia's Artwalk where local artists will gather to showcase their artwork. The event starts at Shadows-on-the-Teche following Main Street to Railroad Avenue.
