Iberian Ambassador of the Week

 

Wess Robison with Iberia On Tap
Congratulations Monsieur Wess Robison, founder of Iberia On Tap, an organization devoted to making our community a better place to live, work and play. He was awarded the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce Civic Service Award and will be honored at the chamber's annual banquet on Jan. 23. On Tap puts together family friendly events, such as Movies in the Park, and co-sponsors the Acadiana Dragon Boat Festival.

  • Shadows on the teche civil war encampment Merci Madame Catherine Schramm with Shadows-on-the-Teche for sending the press release on the Civil War presentation to be held tonight.

  • Reposez en paix (rest in peace) Madame Ann Galtier of Delcambre who passed away on New Year's eve. Madame Ann worked for Jungle Gardens for many years. We extend our sympathies to her family and friends.
 












  • Congratulations to the New Iberia City Park Playground Enhancement Project for being awarded the Citizen of the Year Award by the Daily Iberian.


  • The new rack cards for the Louisiana Gourd Show to be held in April in New Iberia are in! Come get yours today at our welcome center.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Many of our visitors want to do swamp tours and Lake Martin offers excellent swamp tour opportunities. If you are interested in helping to protect the nationally significant waterbird rookery, please contact them to join their amazing team of volunteers. Details here.

 

  • Acadiana Bayous and Byways is offering a 12 days/11 nights trip to the Acadians' homelands on Aug. 9-20, 2014. The tour includes Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec and Maine. Participants will learn about Acadian history and spend the last three days at Congrès Mondial Acadien.   • We are looking for door prizes or a trip getaway for two LTPA shows to be held next month, Florida Snowbird Extravaganza and LA Travel & Adventure Show. 
    LTPA will be working booths at these consumer shows and distributing the culinary tabloid (see our ad here). Please contact our office if you can offer something for these shows. Merci!

 

  • Please send us information on your March tourist-friendly events by Jan. 24. We are compiling the March calendar press release to be sent to the media at the beginning of February. You can check your event listing on our web calendar.

  • A Night at the Museum was mentioned in Red's Magazine, a Friday publication of the Baton Rouge Advocate, and in Louisiana Kitchen and Culture's e-newsletter and website. The latter also included the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration.
