Honoring Monsieur George Rodrigue
NEW IBERIA, La. --- In memory of New Iberia native son, George Rodrigue, who has brought international attention to Acadiana, the ON TAP organization along with numerous other community volunteers are asking Iberia businesses and residents to place blue ribbons on their doors Friday, Dec. 20.

George Rodrigue (March 13, 1944 - Dec. 14, 2013) was an American artist. He grew up in New Iberia, Louisiana. In the late 1960s, Rodrigue began painting Louisiana landscapes, followed soon after by family gatherings and southwest Louisiana 19th century and early 20th century genre scenes. His paintings often include moss-clad oak trees, common to an area of French Louisiana known as Acadiana. In the mid-1990s Rodrigue's Blue Dog paintings, based on a Cajun legend called loup-garou, catapulted him to worldwide fame.
