El Festival Espa˝ol de Nueva Iberia's steering committee invites you to the festival this Saturday and to the gala on Friday. They are, from left, Dr. Catherine Segura (treasurer), Monsieur Luis Mora, Monsieur Tracy Migues (vice-president), Madame Sarah Migues, Madame CÚline Greenwood, Madame Marcia Patout, Madame Susan Bernard, Monsieur Ebrar Reaux (president) and the photographer, Madame Jane Braud (secretary).

ribbon cutting of timeless treasures antique store in new iberia

Timeless Treasures, a new antique shop in New Iberia owned by Madame Gerri Dartez (center), held a ribbon cutting on Nov. 6.

  • UL-Lafayette Acadiana History App Meeting: The history department at UL-Lafayette developed a smartphone app that identifies historic places throughout Acadiana. They will hold a public forum in New Iberia to present the project and seek suggestions for future content. The meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Iberia Parish Library- Main Branch. Details here.

  • Bubba's Place in Jeanerette is closed.

  • On Nov. 4, travel writers Jo Matyas and Craig Jones visited attractions in our area as part of a media tour sponsored by the Louisiana Office of Tourism and its Canadian office. They are writing a feature article for the CAA Magazine spring 2014 issue. CAA is the Canadian equivalent of America's AAA. The readership of the magazine is 2.4 million. They  traveled by RV and stayed at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park for the Iberia Parish portion of the tour. They visited TABASCO, Jungle Gardens and Shadows-on-the-Teche. Other areas on the tour included: New Orleans, Abbeville Henderson, Lafayette, Breaux Bridge, Opelousas, Eunice and Mamou. The IPCVB provided a media kit promoting all of Iberia Parish to the writers. Merci to our stakeholders who provided complimentary admission.
  • Envision daBerry still needs Christmas decorations for their Winter Window Wonderland Display on Main Street New Iberia. Anyone can donate whatever they have to the NILA Gallery, LLC at 301 West St. Peter on Thursday - Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Read Envision daBerry's newsletter here.
