Introducing our Iberian Ambassador of the year: Her Highness Queen On da Geaux Linda Horton. She pledged to support and promote tourism during her 2013-2014 reign as Queen of the Berry Queens. We look forward to working with her!

  • National Oilwell Varco will develop a $23 million drilling technology facility in New Iberia. The new facility will create 80 new direct jobs with an average salary of $60,000 per year, plus benefits... more.

 

  • Domestic travelers spent $43.33 million in Iberia Parish in 2012, according to a new study by the US Travel Assoc. on the impact of tourism on Louisiana parishes (p. 29). Get the full report here.
  • The Christmas in Louisiana Brochures are in! Pick up your complimentary copy at our welcome center. 
  • Volunteers are needed for two Shadows-on-the-Teche events. If you can help, please contact Annie Delcarpio Barras ASAP at anniebarras@hotmail.com

    The first is the Shadows Civil War enactment school day on Nov. 1. They are looking for one or two people to show kids how to dance the Virginia reel. The helpers do not have to be professionals and do not need to know it beforehand. It apparently is very easy. They would be needed from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

    The second event is the Children's Gingerbread Tea on Dec. 8 from 1-3 p.m. They are looking for students to help with Christmas caroling and to dress up as some Christmas characters.
  • The Grand Marais Mardi Gras Assoc. is looking for judges for its Southern Soulfood Showdown and Mardi Gras costumes contest. Contact Tina Olivier, oliviertina1962@yahoo.com, 337-339-8654.
