IPAL presents "Noises Off"
IPAL Noises Off Actors on Stage
NEW IBERIA, La. --- The Iberia Performing Arts League will open its 2013-2014 season with Michael Frayns' classic "Noises Off". The show will run Thursdays through Sundays, Oct. 24 through Nov. 3 at the Essanee Theater in downtown New Iberia.

"Noises Off" is a fast paced, physical farce which presents non-stop hilarity, onstage and backstage, as a cast of itinerant fifth rate acting ensemble prepare for a touring in a "head on collision" of a flop called "Nothing's On". Michael Frayns' classic three-act farce of a play within a play is filled with slamming doors, flying props, prat falls and plenty of sardines.

The under-rehearsed actors and technicians desperately try to perform even as their rapidly deteriorating relationships cause mass hysteria and make for some hysterical comedy both off-stage and on. They all quickly find that as they muddle through, the more they work to take control, the funnier and more chaotic it gets!

Noises Off is written with a wit and heart that allows it to be more than a mere farce or parody of farce; it speaks to what we love about theatre and makes us laugh at our dramas, both onstage and off. It has been boasted by many that it is one of the most brilliantly crafted lunatic comedy in years.

The show is directed by Donna Berard and Katherine Caffery, along with assistant director, Ryan Berard. The cast of nine includes Charmaine Mosing as Dottie Otley, Chuck Rogers as Lloyd Dallas, Ryan Berard as Garry Lejeune, Katelyn Stelly as Brooke Ashton, Erin Segura as Belinda Blair, Brittany DuBois as Poppy, Andrew Mills as Frederick Fellowes, Martin Smith as Tim Allgood, and Robert Sidman as Selsdon.

Evening performances (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) begin at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. Advance tickets are available at Delaune's Pharmacy, Paul's Flower Shop, or Accentrics in New Iberia.

For information, call the theater at 337-364-6114 and leave a name, phone number and a short message. All tickets are $10. For media information, call Katherine Caffery at 337-256-0604. Please note that this show may not be considered suitable for young children.
