Iberian Ambassadors of the Week

 

Bud Forrest and Richard Speers
Former Navy Pilots Messieurs Bud Forrest and Richard Spears (pictured from left), as well as Messieurs Paul Fair and David Degroat (not pictured), are bringing together more than 300 people from all over the United States this weekend to the Ramada Conference Center in New Iberia for the New Iberia Naval Air Station (NAAS)'s Navy Air and Cajun Fare Last Chance Reunion.   • Merci to all our tourism partners who donated items for the Navy Air and Cajun Fare: KONRIKO® and TABASCO® for minis; Shadows-on-the-Teche for offering a special two for one tour; and New Iberia Main Street, the Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce, Rip Van Winkle Gardens, Jungle Gardens, Bayou Teche Museum, Shadows-on-the-Teche, KONRIKO® and TABASCO® for providing promotional material. IPCVB provided name badges, ditty bags and Discover Iberia Community Resource Guides.

 

  • Thank you Madame Elise Brunson with the Boys and Girls Club of Acadiana for sending the press release for the upcoming Brudley's Wild Game Cookoff.

Industry News
  • Rest in peace, Madame Barbara Ann Olivier Hoyt, who passed away on Sept. 25. Before moving to Hammond, La., Barbara volunteered at IPCVB and Shadows-on-the-Teche, among others, and helped organize the Keep Iberia Beautiful effort. We remember Barbara fondly and send our sympathies to her family and friends.
 
  • Kudos to Monsieur William "Billy" Patout III with M.A. Patout & Son for creating, with the help of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, one of the largest sugar cane industry libraries in the country. Details here.
 
  • The latest issue of the Bayou Teche Journal is in! Thank you Herr Cory Werk for including Shadows-on-the-Teche. Read it here.
 
  • Check on the progress of the Jeanerette Museum annex expansion. The museum still has free outdoor space available for artists and crafters that wish to sell items during Jeanerette Museum Day Live! to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 19.
