Iberian Ambassador of the Week
  
Madame Katie Savoie baking sweet treats at A Cake to Remember in New Iberia. The cakery will host a Sugar Exhibit as part of the LA Sugar Cane Festival next month. The shop will also relocate to 108 Main St. in a few months.

  • Félicitations Iberia Parish Tourist Commission Board members Darnelle Delcambre and Francine Garzotto for placing in the Cajun Sugar Co-op/The Daily Iberian Cajun-Creole Cookoff on July 30. Madame Darnelle won 2nd place for her "Roasted Potato and Chicken Salad" and "Eggplant Surprise." Madame Francine's "Cheesy Spinach Salad" and "Eggplant Parmesan" placed 3rd. Now we're hungry!

 

  • Delcambre Direct Seafood's Vermilion Bay Sweet Shrimp was a part of the winning menu at the Great American Seafood Cookoff (student division). Competing with teams from across the country in New Orleans, Vermilion Parish 4H team, Austin Gaspard, Paige Patout & Katherine Trahan brought home the honors.

  • Vote for our towns and help put them on the map at bestoftheroad.com. For the third year in the row, Rand McNally is searching for the best small towns in America. ICRA

 

  • Iberia Cultural Resources Association will introduces its new book at its Aug. 14 meeting at 5:30 p.m. at the Sliman Theater in New Iberia. The event is free and open to the public. New Iberia-What Can't Be Lost features more than 100 stories, which describe growing up in Iberia Parish. These stories, set in New Iberia, Coteau, Delcambre, Jeanerette, Loreauville, Avery Island and Weeks Island, provide humorous, interesting, and informative recollections of life in Iberia.   • El Festival Espanol de Nueva Iberia painting unveiling will be held Aug. 22, 2013, from 5:30-7 p.m. at Clementine's in New Iberia.
