Deputy Chief Mike Vincent with Iberia Parish Fire Department holds a speaker gift donated by TABASCO� and KONRIKOfor the Louisiana Firemen's Association Convention held last week in New Iberia.

  • Jungle Gardens is now offering cell phone and smart phone tours. The latter feature an interactive map with text, pictures, video and audio commentary on each stop of the gardens.

 

  • Bayou Teche Museum is expanding. Watch the video.

 

  • Jane's Seafood has new mobile apps for your Iphone and Android. Go to Itunes or Android Google Play Market and search For Jane's Seafood to download. Jane's was also voted #1 for Boiled Seafood and #2 for Prepared Seafood in the Daily Iberian's Best of the Teche survey. Go Jane!

 

  • Vote for our towns and help put them on the map at bestoftheroad.com. For the third year in the row, Rand McNally is searching for the best small towns in America. You can vote for your town every day. Get the program's details here. Encourage our visitors to vote for us and please share on Facebook. Deadline: Sept. 3, 2013.

ICRA

 

  • Iberia Cultural Resources Association will introduces its new book at its Aug. 14 meeting at 5:30 p.m. at the Sliman Theater in New Iberia. The event is free and open to the public. New Iberia-What Can't Be Lost features more than 100 stories, which describe growing up in Iberia Parish. These stories, set in New Iberia, Coteau, Delcambre, Jeanerette, Loreauville, Avery Island and Weeks Island, provide humorous, interesting, and informative recollections of life in Iberia. FESTIVAL

  • El Festival Espanol de Nueva Iberia painting unveiling will be held Aug. 22, 2013, from 5:30-7 p.m. at Clementine's in New Iberia.

 

  • Here's the flyer for the Fall Downtown Artwalk to be held on Oct. 19 from 4-7 p.m. in New Iberia.

 

Marketing & Funding Opportunities
  • Is your business French-friendly? Contact the CODOFIL (Council for the Development of French in Louisiana) to be labeled French-friendly. Any business or organization that promotes French in Louisiana and makes a solid effort to offer services in French will get the Franco Responsible logo. Click here to learn more about this free opportunity to attract French-speaking visitors to your business. 
  • You may be eligible for an Economic Opportunity Fund from the LA Cultural Economy Foundation. The goal of the EOF grant program is to provide small seed grants (max of $2,500) to small cultural nonprofits, cultural businesses and individual cultural workers to create a new stream of income that will be self- sustaining over the long term. Deadline: August 30. Learn more here.
