  • Monsieur Roy Pontiff, Executive Director of the Port of Iberia, received the E. Baudoin Jr. Friend of Business Award last week at the 2013 Acadiana Business Hall of Fame Banquet in Lafayette. Congratulations!
  • Delcambre will hold a press tour and mini market open to the public on May 30. The 'Flash Mini-Market' will enable visitors to preview what's in store for the June 1 grand opening market.
  • The Louisiana Gourd Society will hold its next annual gourd show on April 3-5, 2014 at the Willow Wood Multi Purpose Building in New Iberia.
  • Miles Media in partnership with the Louisiana Travel Promotion Association is offering a one-year tuition scholarship to Marketing College. The scholarship is open to anyone employed in the state's tourism industry and individuals wishing to apply can click here to download an application. The deadline to apply is May 31.   • Do you want to travel to Canada to learn about Acadian ancestry? "Mama" Redell Comeaux Miller, tour coordinator for Acadiana Bayous and Byways, and Mr. Claude Boudreau of Memramcook, Canada, are organizing an Acadian/Cajun Tour for Congrès Mondial Acadien 2014. The trip will include flying into Halifax and following the Acadians' historical trail from their arrival from France to their deportation and return to Acadie.  For more information, e-mail
  • The Louisiana Office of Tourism's budget impacts Iberia Parish! We encourage all tourism stakeholders to follow this link and send a pre-drafted letter to members of the Louisiana House Appropriations Committee asking them to support tourism during the upcoming legislative session. This is a campaign of the Louisiana Travel Promotion Association and the Louisiana Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus.
Marketing Opportunities

We are celebrating shrimp month in Iberia with our shrimp giveaway on Facebook. Send us your best shrimp pictures before the end of the week and we will promote you on social media. Anything you have at your business featuring shrimp will do. Get creative: photos of shrimp-themed retail items like t-shirts or books, employees eating shrimp or holding plastic shrimp, recipes, etc. Restaurants, send pictures of your best shrimp dish.

The promotion ends May 31.



  • Put Iberia on the map! National Geographic is launching online, locally-built travel guides in BP oil spill states. Click here for more details. Click here to nominate places, community organizations, local food, etc. Deadline: July 15
  • You may be eligible for an Economic Opportunity Fund from the LA Cultural Economy Foundation. The goal of the EOF grant program is to provide small seed grants (max of $2,500) to small cultural nonprofits, cultural businesses and individual cultural workers to create a new stream of income that will be self- sustaining over the long term.   • Do you want to market your business abroad? The Louisiana Office of Tourism is sending us monthly lead reports by their international representatives. See April's UK-Ireland and Germany-Austria-Switzerland reports. If you can offer any information to the tour operators, please make contact.

  • FREE publicity opportunity: We are working on the July calendar of events, which we will e-mail to all our contacts including media, tourism partners, government officials, consumers and tourism bureaus in state, out of state and abroad. We will also post it on our Facebook and website. If you want your event to be included, please let us know by Tuesday, May 28.

  • Get exposure with the Cajun Country Coupon Book, which is distributed in certified tourist (see list here) and state welcome centers (see list here). Our visitors love these coupons!
