  • The Port of Delcambre received $35,000 from a FEMA program. Click here for details. The port will hold a press tour on May 30.
  • Monsieur Kim Cusimano, Hampton Inn's General Manager, brought us the new Hampton Inn rack cards this week. Come get one!
  • Miles Media in partnership with the Louisiana Travel Promotion Association is offering a one-year tuition scholarship to Marketing College. The scholarship is open to anyone employed in the state's tourism industry and individuals wishing to apply can click here to download an application. The deadline to apply is May 31.   • The Louisiana Office of Tourism's budget impacts Iberia Parish! We encourage all tourism stakeholders to follow this link and send a pre-drafted letter to members of the Louisiana House Appropriations Committee asking them to support tourism during the upcoming legislative session. This is a campaign of the Louisiana Travel Promotion Association and the Louisiana Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus.
  • Do you want to travel to Canada to learn about Acadian ancestry? "Mama" Redell Comeaux Miller, tour coordinator for Acadiana Bayous and Byways, and Mr. Claude Boudreau of Memramcook, Canada, are organizing an Acadian/Cajun Tour for Congrès Mondial Acadien 2014. Marketing Opportunities

We are celebrating shrimp month in Iberia with our shrimp giveaway on Facebook. Send us your best shrimp pictures and we will promote you on social media and in our consumer newsletter. Anything you have at your business featuring shrimp will do. Get creative: photos of shrimp-themed retail items like t-shirts or books, employees eating shrimp or holding plastic shrimp, recipes, etc. Restaurants, send pictures of your best shrimp dish.

 

Reminder: the deadline to submit information for the Monday newsletter is Thursday at 5 p.m.

 

 

 

  • FREE publicity opportunity: We are working on the July calendar of events, which we will e-mail to all our contacts including media, tourism partners, government officials, consumers and tourism bureaus in state, out of state and abroad. We will also post it on our Facebook and website. If you want your event to be included, please let us know by Tuesday, May 28.
  • Do you want to market your business abroad? The Louisiana Office of Tourism is sending us monthly lead reports by their international representatives. See April's UK-Ireland and Germany-Austria-Switzerland reports. If you can offer any information to the tour operators, please make contact.

  • Reserve your ad space in the Fall 2013 edition of the Louisiana Schools Field Trip Guide produced by the Birmingham News. The guide will be mailed directly to evey 3rd through 8th grade classroom teacher in Louisiana. It will provide more than 15,000 teachers with a valuable resource for locating exciting and educational field trip destinations, while offering worthwhile organizations a unique way to promote themselves and reach potential visitors.   • The Iberia episode of Go Coast Louisiana will air on May 23 and June 17 on LPB2. 
  • Vote for your favorite places and businesses in our area through:
    • The Daily Iberian's annual Best of the Teche survey. Pick up a copy of the Iberian, fill out at least 1/3 of the ballot inside and turn it in before May 24 for consideration.
    • The Times of Acadiana's Best of Acadiana survey. Bon Creole and Rip Van Winkle Gardens made it to the finalists' round. Vote before May 28.
