Message from the President
Greetings Deltas,
I don't know about you, but for me Fall is a busy time of year. The start of October marks National Breast Cancer Awareness Month along with Bullying Prevention and Domestic Violence Awareness AND the start of the Holiday season!
During this whirlwind time of year, take time to relax, reconnect with old friends, and enjoy those around you. As a busy woman myself this is much easier said than done. But this fall Tri Delta has a few ways to help you reconnect with old and new friends -- attend our fall happy hour on October 24th at Copperfish, participate in the Tampa Heart Walk or the St. Jude Give Thanks walk. And of course, please join us to celebrate 125 years of Tri Delta sisterhood at our Founders' Day celebration on Wednesday, November 13 at Palma Ceia Country Club.
With the holidays just around the corner, please keep in mind that our annual Poinsettia sale is quickly approaching, with all proceeds benefitting the Children's Cancer Center and St. Jude Children's Research hospital. Finally, mark your calendar for our Annual Christmas Coffee recognizing our newest Tri Delta sisters - December 19 at the Home of Irene Rodriguez.
"Never forget that you are one of a kind. Never forget that if there weren't any need for you in all your uniqueness to be on this earth, you wouldn't be here in the first place. And never forget, no matter how overwhelming life's challenges and problems seem to be, that one person can make a difference in the world. In fact, it is always because of one person that all the changes that matter in the world come about. So be that one person."
I hope to see you soon. Remember, Tri Delta is for a life time!

Many schools hold Panhellenic recruitment during August, and we hope to share a list soon of any new Tampa Tri Deltas! However, keep in mind that a number of schools defer recruitment until January! If you know an outstanding young woman planning to participate in recruitment in the months ahead, there is still time to complete a reference form!
If you are sending a reference on a Prospective New Member from the Tampa area, please contact Natalie Pedregal Thomas, Alumnae Reference Chairman, so she may track the information and assist you! Natalie.Thomas@hklaw.com

Panhellenic News
Our first social event is tentatively scheduled for October 21st - but the details have not been confirmed. We hope to have a "Trivia Night" at a local restaurant. Please check our web site for final details!
The Red Elephant Cafe is supporting TAPA's scholarship program. Stop by for lunch or dinner on November 14th and the Red Elephant Cafe will donate 15% of their revenues to TAPA. Make sure to tell your server you are there to support the National Panhellenic Conference. See attached flyer for more details.
On September 24th, the TAPA executive board attended Plant High School College Night to promote "going Greek" in college. Representatives from the UT and USF Panhellenic organizations were also on hand to answer questions. TAPA has also been active on local college campuses. Cookies and "Good Luck" cards were sent to each sorority at UT and USF during their recruitment week.
The Florida Aquarium donated space for our recent meeting, so we would like to thank them by promoting some of their upcoming events. Please see attached flyers for details on "Brews By The Bay" and "Young Professionals Speakeasy".
For more information about TAPA, please check out the web site at http://tampapanhellenic.webs.com, or contact our Tampa Tri Delta Panhellenic Representative, Gayle Ruhlen Miller, at rgruhlen@tampabay.rr.com. Events and other information can also be found at our Facebook page - Tampa Alumnae Panhellenic Association. |

What do dues do??
I am happy to report that the chapter's finances are very sound. Last year, the chapter was in the black, and this year we are on track to do the same! There were 107 dues paying members last year, and we hope we can surpass that number this year.
As you know $5 of your dues goes to the Beta Alpha House Corporation. Since 2010, we have donated over $1,000 to the chapter to assist them in maintaining and improving their chapter house. And as you also know, it is very important to all of us that we support the Delta Delta Delta Foundation, and we were able to make a donation in the amount of $107 in memory of Tiffany Messingham.
To further honor Tiffany, the chapter sent a donation in to the Center for Living, Learning and Leading in honor of her being selected as the Jean Ann Cone Alumna of the Year Award. The funds that were used had been earmarked for the award recipient's gift, along with unused money budgeted for the President's Discretionary Fund.
In addition to your dues, many of you make generous donations during the year when they are needed. For instance, we raised nearly $200 to provide food to the Beta Alpha collegians during the long days of recruitment.
Finally, we have enjoyed great success with the purchase of advertisements in the Pansy Press which help us offset the expense of producing it. Much thanks to our advertisers!
I am always available to answer any questions you might have about the chapter's finances.
Thank you all for your generous support of our chapter and our fraternity. We couldn't do it without you!
