The fifth time was a charm!
After four previously failed attempts, 23 month-old Desmond Creary finally received his liver at the Jackson Memorial Hospital on June 24.

Pilot Fred Cutting brought Desmond and his mother there for the second time in about a month, landing at 12:30am at the Miami International Airport. Fred leaped into action after receiving a call late at night from the 24/7 Transplant Response Team at Angel Flight Southeast.

Congrats to the Creary family!
Thank you Fred!

Bay News 9 will be following up with another piece on this fantastic story.

Nice note from one of our patients suffering from a painful, burning skin disease:

Hi Kathy,

I cannot stress enough the happiness & joy that the pilots at Angel Flight spread.

I had a wonderful trip & everything went extraordinarily well. The weather before & after that day were not cooperative so I really am lucky & grateful that the day of flight was very nice indeed.

I really do not know what I would do without this wonderful organization & the caring people in it.

Being disabled changes a person's life & just knowing that there are people out that that care enough to do what they can to make a persons life easier is comforting on a level that few will ever understand.

To actually be on the receiving end of all that care is an awesome feeling, it brings a serene sense of peace & love of the best human traits in existence.

My sincere thanks to you for your organization skills.

My sincere thanks to David Trilling.

My sincere thanks to David & Ruth Taisch.

I am very appreciative & had wonderful flights.

I gave both taxi drivers, to & fro, some Angel Flight brochures as well as the doctor.  The doctor promptly put one up on the bulletin board.

Sorry but no pictures this time.

Thank you kindly, Carole

New software, better results
Great response! Many of our pilots took advantage of this feature the past two weeks. Enjoy!

With the latest updates to our coordination software, passengers can sign and send their waivers of liability right on our pilots' smart-phones and tablets!

Pilots: The link to the waiver is in the mission details email. Simply open the email on your smart-phone.

It will automatically open the signature box on you phone, and the passenger can sign with their finger! Works on Apple, Android and Windows devices.

Appalachian Trail

"...and the only way he would quit is if they take him off the mountain."

Unfortunately, the same day Bob had an article written about him the the newspaper, he had to be taken to the hospital in Hagerstown, MD with what turned out to be a perforated intestinal ulcer. This cut his quest to hike the Appalachian trail short, only reaching the half-way point.

However, Bob is doing much better now and plans to take up the hike up again in 2015 and tackle the second half of his 2,185 mile adventure!

Work-from-home
We are looking for one or more individuals who will help our new pilots become oriented with how our charity provides our service. The volunteer must be able to use webinar technology (not, hard, we can train you) ad conduct training via the web and telephone on average once per month.

Thank you Brian Jarvis for accepting this important position!

(New) Video editor
We are looking to create a new video with clips we've received over the past year. Our existing one is getting a bit dated, and we'd love to tell our story better than ever!

Event Chairperson: Fort Lauderdale Pilot Awards Gala April 17th/18th, 2015. We will be moving this event to the Emerald Hills Golf Club where the Mike & Shirley Brady Foundation will be putting on our Golf Tournament there in 2015. We are looking for someone who has the time and resources to organize a committee to hold our 2014 Pilot Awards there.

Thank you to Volunteer Helicopter Pilot Jane Wareham for signing up as a committee member! We still need a chairperson! Thanks to Bruce Brown for volunteering as Co-chairman.
