In memory of: Ed McGarvey |
Ed McGarvey was our Monday mission coordinator for the last 10 years! He passed away 5/25/2013. He is survived by his daughters Anne and Lori, and wife Kathy. Prior to his generous volunteer work for us, Ed was a commercial pilot and recently had a nice article written about him. We'll miss you Ed!

Vote for Angel Flight for best Gala/Event |
From dedicated board member Bruce Brown:
To all my friends and Angel Flight Southeast volunteers and supporters,
As you may know, Akers Media is hosting an online vote for all the best things in this area. Among the topics on which you can vote are your favorites for best Gala and Event. If you have not already voted, please cast your write-in vote for the Angel Flight Southeast annual Pilots Awards Gala held at Mission Inn. For those of you that attended, everyone had a great time and we raised some needed money for the organization. Among the guests were several celebrities from the NFL, MLB, NHL and some local VIP's as well. So please vote for Best Gala.
With that Gala was our 17th Annual Golf Tournament held at Arlington Ridge...again everyone had a great time from the helicopter ball drop, several contests, to shooting their golf ball out of a "bazooka" on the 1st tee to the green. We had the best participation out of any charity to date with 86 out of 88 golfers trying to do their best. So, again, if you have not voted for your Best Event, please vote for Angel Flight Southeast for Best Event.
Last year we raised over $46,000 and hope to do much more than that this year!
This year's 2-day event will again be over the Veteran's Day holiday, and will be annually, so this year's Gala/Golf Tournament will be Nov. 10th & 11th. If you've already voted, please pass this on so we can get the best opportunity to win this vote.
The link is: www.LakeAndSumterStyle.com from now until July (don't know the exact date in July).
Thank you so much for your time and attention, and I appreciate you passing this on.
Take care,
Bruce O. Brown
Event Chairman
Editor's note: There is also an opportunity to vote for "Best Volunteer." I think it's a great opportunity to show our appreciation for Bruce and vote for him as well.

Volunteer opportunities: |
Work-from-home phone opportunity: We need some volunteers to make calls to our social workers in the 644 healthcare facilities in our region. This is a critical function! This is one of the best ways for our passenger-patients to find out about our services. We need to update our list, educate the social workers of our fantastic service and send them our shiny new tri-fold brochures which will be printed soon.
We got three! Thank you to Carla, Andrea (Aubrey's Mom) & Mike Winter
