Two organ transplant missions this week!

Amorie will turn three years old in April, but she received her best present early. Pilot Andy Hofheimer is based closest to the family's home in Jacksonville, FL. Andy is always ready to assist with a transplant mission and readily accepted this one to Miami (291nm one way). This is the third time Andy has flown a little girl for a transplant. Amorie was successfully transplanted with a liver and the nurses say she is doing well!

The call came in at 3am.

Pilot Wayne Plaster was the first pilot on our list of ten stand-by pilots for this mission. A lung became available in Miami and Wayne rubbed his eyes, got up and quickly flew our passenger to receive her lung. This is actually the second time we have flown her; unfortunately the first lung was not a good fit, but this time it was!

Transplant missions (for our pilots)

Special note to transplant pilots: The FAA and Air Traffic Control have made a change to the designator for transplant flights. They have now requested that they be filed as "Medevac" instead of Lifeguard, but be filed with an "L" in front of the full call sign including the "N" so N999XX would be filed as "LN999XX". IN the air, you will be referred to "Medevac 9XX"

Angel Flight Brand Coffee - Contest!
