Town Hall Meetings | |
Overcrowding at some services is a central concern for the Christ Church staff and vestry. Both are anxious to gather input from the congregation regarding potential solutions. This process will begin with a series of town hall meetings to inform the congregation about the situation and get feedback from those attending. Town hall meeting dates are: Saturday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Ignatius, Sunday, March 13 and March 20 at 12:30, and Thursday, March 17 at 6:00 p.m. in the Christ Church parish hall. Please plan to attend one of these gatherings. Meetings will last one hour or less.

Centering Prayer Group
A Centering Prayer group, led by The Rev. Nancy Acree, meets each Wednesday at 11:00 in the parish hall library. Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer in which we experience God's presence within us This method of silent prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. It is not meant to replace other ways of prayer but is meant to foster a personal relationship and move beyond conversation with Christ to communion with Him. All are welcome and no previous experience is necessary. Come and try it out.

Lenten Book Study | |
There are two opportunities to join the Diocese of Georgia in a 7 week study of Rachel Held Evan's book, Searching for Sunday: Loving, Leaving and Finding the Church:
- The Adult Bible Class meets each Sunday from 10:30 - 11:15 am each Sunday in the classroom next to the Choir Room in the Parish Hall. The Rev. Dr. Bob Brown is the Leader.
- Fr. Tom will lead a discussion group on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
This book is the diocesan selection for Lent. Our Adult classes will be doing the study along with other classes throughout the Diocese.
"From New York Times bestselling author Rachel Held Evans comes a book that is both a heartfelt ode to the past and hopeful gaze into the future of what it means to be a part of the Church. Like millions of her millennial peers, Evans didn't want to go to church anymore. The hypocrisy, the politics, the gargantuan building budgets, the scandals--church culture seemed so far removed from Jesus. Yet, despite her cynicism and misgivings, something kept drawing her back to Church. And so she set out on a journey to understand Church and to find her place in it.
Centered around seven sacraments, Evans' quest takes readers through a liturgical year with stories about baptism, communion, confirmation, confession, marriage, vocation, and death that are funny, heartbreaking, and sharply honest. A memoir about making do and taking risks, about the messiness of community and the power of grace, Searching for Sunday is about overcoming cynicism to find hope and, somewhere in between, Church."

Coffee Hour Hosts Needed
Coffee Hour is a time of fellowship after the 9:15 a.m. service has ended. It provides a welcoming place, to talk to the clergy, to meet new people, and to relax with friends. Our coffee hour hosts provide light refreshments, coffee, tea, and usually a cold drink. We try to include a healthy alternative alongside our sweet treats so that parishioners with special diets can participate.
Coffee hour teams arrive before each service to start coffee and put together their food items, and then leave the service right after Communion to prepare to serve the refreshments. They clean up afterward. It's fun and easy to do and is a perfect way to meet new people and enjoy fellowship with the Christ Church family. If you would like to sign up to become a Coffee Hour Host, please let Glenn know. You can either call him at the Parish Office (912-638-8683), or email him at [email protected].

Prayer Shawl Ministry | |

Community Passover Seder
Christ Church is partnering with other local churches and Temple Beth Telfiloh in Brunswick to offer a community Seder on Thursday, March 10, 2016. The Seder will be held at First United Methodist, Brunswick at 6:00 pm. Cost is a suggested donation of $10 per person or $25 per family. And proceeds will be divided among FaithWorks, America's Second Harvest, and United Way. Space is LIMITED to 250 people, which is not as much as it sounds given the number of congregations participating. Please call the church office to reserve a space. We will be coordinating spaces on a first come, first served basis with the event organizers and will add additional names to a wait list as needed. To ensure your place, please sign up and make your donation soon.

Flowering of the Cross | |
The flowering of the cross has become an Easter Day tradition at Christ Church. David Lowe and Chris Triplett begin the process by bedecking the cross outside the church entrance with spring flowers and invite the entire parish to join in by bringing blooms that they have purchased or cut in their yards to services on Easter Day. Mr. MacGregor (aka David) will be there to assist, and he might even take a picture of you and your family as you celebrate this joyous day. Don't forget your flowers and your camera on Easter morning!

A Huge Thank You from Barbara Sullivan
Many of you know, my niece, Barbara Driscoll who lives here and with whom I am very close. She returned home from visiting her son in the Peace Corps in Senegal, Africa on Sunday, February 21st.I found her Wednesday the 23rd on the floor of her apartment where she had fallen and lain for 10 hours. Since then she has been in the Brunswick Hospital on life support, a kidney dialysis machine and in a coma. She contracted Legionnaires Disease from a faulty air conditioner in one of the African hotels. When she was admitted to the hospital she was listed as 98% fatality. Today, Sunday she is in her 12th day on life support but has defied the odds and has shown positive progress every day with no setbacks. Dr. Grubb and the Hospital Staff are in awe and believe she will recover. However it will be a long haul. I know that it is a miracle and has been caused by all the prayers from my Christ Church family. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have really made a difference. Thank you also to Donna Purdy and the Angel Guild for providing wonderful meals for 8 nights. I just couldn't cook for Barbara's 3 children plus a spouse and partner after visiting the hospital. My gratitude is immense!!!
