Six Words that Cause

A Communication Headache

I was sitting with a manager the other day, tasked with bringing a wayward and diverse group of employees together. It had been some time since they had experienced a consistent leader and their anxiety was as high as their trust low. As I spoke with the leader, we began to prioritize the needs of the group. "Communication was high on their list", the well-intentioned manager shared. "They were asking for good or better communication." "Ok", I returned,  "...what does that mean to you?" My leader  thought a moment, and then stared perplexedly ahead. "I'm not quite sure what that means..."

This was a turning point for this leader.

Why?

They were about to learn a core lesson in Interpersonal Skill Mastery- The science (not art) of specific communication technique.  For today, here are six words that DO NOT fall into the go-to menu of specific communication. Tune in next week for 6 words that do.

  • Soon
  • ASAP
