Pet Grooming on a Miniature Schnauzer
Lisa Leady, CMG, NCMG

This dog has unusual markings for a Schnauzer. This is NOT a recognized color by the AKC. However, we're seeing more and more of the parti-colored Miniature Schnauzers among pet parents.

Award-winning pet stylist, Lisa Leady demonstrates how to set a correct Schnauzer pattern on this pet using a #7F blade. "Schnauzer crud" is a common problem when clipping pet dogs. Lisa shows you ways to prevent the issue before you even start clipping.

As Lisa trims, she is always thinking about ways to improve the look of the dog. She's always working with the body structure and trying to bring out the best appearance. That's includes enhancing the features required in the official written standard - even on a pet trim.

Throughout the entire lesson, Lisa gives you plenty of great tips. We especially love one of her secrets from the show world that she applies to her everyday grooms. We bet you'll love it, too.

Session A: Clipper Work on the Body
Session B: Trimming the Feet and Legs
Session C: Styling the Head

In this video you will learn:
  • how to etch in eyebrows so they are sharp and clean.
  • why it's important to check your own attitude as you work with any dog.
  • how to trim a leg when the coat is floppy and lacks body.
  • how to set the underline.
  • why she would rather beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.

Maltese with Round Head & Short Ears

Kendra shows you how to trim a pet Maltese so it's not only cute, but practical, too. Short Maltese coats can be a challenge to work with because the lack body and mark terribly.

For optimum control, Kendra enjoys working primarily with thinning shears when trimming the head and muzzle. She'll show you how to get an appealing head style in no time!
