Utility Trim on a Wire Haired Doodle
Judy Hudson, NCMG

Before
Judy Hudson is a leading educator in the world of professional pet grooming. She still grooms everyday dogs, just like you. Her clients want simple trims. Like so many customers, her clients want haircuts that are easy to care for between grooms. And the dogs - well they're not always perfect.

This is one of Judy's mobile clients in Tennessee. It's a wire-coated Doodle that spends most of its time outdoors. The first time she laid eyes on this dog, she was a bit taken aback. It certainly was not your typical Doodle - and it was basically in dreadlocks.

In this lesson, Judy shows you a utility style of trim that works for this dog and the owner. She takes the coat type into consideration and incorporates techniques to maintain its texture while keeping the skin healthy. The end result is easy to care for between groomings and offers a bit of style to the dog, as well.
After

Judy has her hands full with this big boy. Being primarily an outdoor dog, he lacks some basic doggie manners. Luckily, he's not mean or nasty. He's just a bit active on the grooming table. Judy never loses her cool - she simply works through the behavior. Judy is a master as weaving two lessons into one - grooming and handling!
