For most salon owners, this is their favorite things to do: record all the financial details of their shop - each and every day. Stop it. We can see you rolling your eyes from here!
If you are like most pet groomers or stylists, recording all those pesky details will drive you up a wall. Let's face it. The task is BORING!
Unfortunately, all those bothersome details are important. If you own a business, you need solid financial records. It's part of the responsibilities that comes with business ownership. No business will survive very long without accurate financial records.
The good news is, you don't have to do them yourself! This task can easily be delegated to someone else. If you look, you can find someone who loves to bury his/her head into mounds of paper, work out challenging puzzles, and enter mindless data into a computer program. You don't have to deal with it - and in most cases, you shouldn't!
Melissa Verplank was just like all of you. Her focus and love was grooming dogs, NOT entering all those annoying details into a computer system. Her idea of bookkeeping was an over flowing shoebox full of receipts!
In this lesson, Melissa brings her longtime accountant to the L2GD set. They discuss ways to maintain solid financial records without doing it yourself.
Melissa is a firm believer of delegation. If you are new to the idea of delegating, this is a great area to hand off to someone else. It will allow you to do what you do best - groom dogs.
There are lots of people out there that love to sweat the details, enter data, and crunch numbers. Let them! You'll sleep a lot better knowing you have accurate financial records - and you didn't have to put in all the tedious hours preparing those records yourself!
