What to Bring to a Grooming Competition

or Certification Testing

Amy Triezenberg

Amy Triezenberg has spent a lot of time traveling with dogs.  She's been on the pet grooming competition circuit for over thirteen years.  She's learned the hard way which items will come in handy on the road and in hotel rooms.

You're traveling with dogs and toting a lot of equipment.  Dogs are going to have accidents.  Equipment is going to break.  People will borrow your stuff.  A whole host of other situations are going to crop up to make your travels frustrating and chaotic.

This lesson is loaded with great ideas; ideas to make your life a lot easier and more organized.  Many of them are unique for those traveling to dog shows, grooming competitions, or certification testing - anywhere you need the dog to look its best and you need to be on top of your game.

Even if you're an experienced pet traveler, we bet you will pick up a few new ideas to apply to your next road trip.

Approximate total running time:  23 minutes

Grooming the Golden Retriever

Lisa Leady demonstrates how to get a show look on a pet Golden Retriever.  The coat is packed with undercoat.  Goldens should be athletic and muscular with a soft, pleasing expression.  Having large amounts of undercoat does not achieve the physically fit appearance you want them to have - and the excessive undercoat ends up all over the owner's home!

Learn how to work with carding tools to make even a couch potato look athletic.  Remove bulk to bring out the angles of this dog.  This may not be a show dog, but by the time Lisa gets done with her, she looks show ring ready.

Estimated Run Time:  53 minutes
