Gettin' er Done Series with Judy Hudson, NCMG
Grooming a Pet Yorkshire Terrier Mix

Judy Hudson is an awarding winning groomer. She is also a popular demonstrator at grooming trade shows. In this lesson, Judy works on a pet Yorkshire Terrier mix. This old dog used to be one of Judy's competition dogs. He's long since been retired from the ring. He's older now and lives on a farm. This elderly boy has a number of health considerations when it comes to grooming. Even with the challenges, Judy still tries to give him a haircut that is practical yet stylish.

Judy gives you some ideas on how to produce a nice-looking trim quickly. She uses a combination of clipper blades, guard combs, thinning shears and some light scissoring to get this haircut done in less than 30 minutes. As Judy works on this little dog -- in the back of her mind she's always thinking, "What if this was my dog sleeping in my bed?" What can I do to help with the sanitary issues? She shares some great tips on how to blend a stylish haircut with farm style living.

Join Judy as she shows you a simple little trim that is easy to do. One of the keys with working with geriatric dogs is getting them in and out of the salon as quickly as possible. This haircut accomplishes just that.

Leave Your Emotional
Baggage at the Door

In a grooming salon, your four footed clients need your full attention. 110% of it. Every day.

Let's face it, we love dogs. The last thing we would want to do as a pet professional is hurt a dog (or cat), but there are countless dangers lurking around every corner of a grooming salon for a pet if we are not on top of our game.

What's Good for the Dog

is Good for the Cat

Most dog groomers wouldn't dream of grooming dogs without having some understanding of breeds and their profiles. Yet, when it comes to grooming cats, many groom them without having any knowledge of cat breeds and the standards that exist for them. What are the grooming requirements for different cats? This lecture will give you the guidelines for determining the best groom for every cat.

Estimated Run Time: Just over 60 minutes
