New Federal Government
Congratulations to our newly elected members during the recent Federal Election. We look forward to working with members of all parties as we address the important issues ahead of us, such as affordable and accessible housing, improved accessibility within our communities, equitable transportation and barrier free access to medical services.
Recognizing our Great Volunteers
Nomination forms and criteria for SCI Alberta's Volunteer Awards ceremony to be held during the Red Carpet Affair on March 18, 2016 at the Shaw Conference Centre are attached. Deadline for submissions is December 15, 2015.

YMCA Recipient of FES Bike
Generously donated by the Spinal Cord Injury Treatment Centre Society, the Don Wheaton Family YMCA of Northern Alberta is the proud recipient of a new RT 300 FES Exercise Bike. Trained staff are available to support users once assessed and provided with a FES program. Contact the workout centre staff directly at Don Wheaton Family YMCA or call 780-969-8940 if you have questions about this equipment or assessments.

Adaptive Curling has started partnering with Medicine Hat Adaptive Sport and Recreation. Takes place Friday afternoons from 1:30 - 2:30 pm, Medicine Hat Curling Club. Upcoming curling dates: November 6, 13, 20, 27. December 4, 11, 18. January 8, 15, 29. February 5, 12, 19, 26.

SCI Grande Prairie Bowling Group - FALL/WINTER Hours!
Join us each Tuesday for Social Bowling from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. to bowl or to cheer us on! Taking place at Grande Prairie's Bowling Stones Ten Pin Entertainment Center, 11005 - 106 Avenue. $4.00 per game. Cribbage, pool and other games are often available as well. Volunteers welcome.

Disabled Parking in Russia
Dislife, a Russian non-profit organization, came up with a powerful campaign to try and reduce the number of drivers from parking in disabled parking spaces. They installed projections of a real disabled person that popped up every time a non-disabled driver tried to park in their space.

A friend of SCI Alberta recently forwarded a link to a travel blog that they have been maintaining for the past few years. The blog can be found at http://papawheelieblog.com. They have tried to include pictures of the things that are often most important to travellers with mobility issues (toilets, sinks, bathtubs/showers, etc.). They have completed several posts already and have many more to come! This is a great resource.
