ACCD Survey - Accessible Dental, EyeCare and Pharmacy Services

The Alberta Committee of Citizens with Disabilities has initiated a research study on Accessible Dental, Eye Care and Pharmacy Services in Alberta. They are collecting data using focus groups, accessibility surveys and questionnaires. Questionnaire Surveys are now up and ready to be filled out online. There are two separate questionnaires - one for people with disabilities/their caregivers/guardians and one for professionals/practitioners/employees from dental, eye care and pharmacy services. Shaw Media Internships for Students with Disabilities    
Shaw Logo The Shaw Media Internships for Students with Disabilities are a series of internships designed to encourage and aid Canadian talent in establishing or furthering a career in the Canadian broadcast industry. These annual internships, valued at approximately $10,000 each, are offered to Canadian students with disabilities. The recipients will receive a challenging opportunity to work in private television in pursuit of a career in broadcasting. The students will be placed in three to four month paid internships at one of our Global television stations, or our Specialty television facility. Applications for Summer 2015 internships will be due by March 13th, 2015.

Research and Innovation   

  

 

ReWalk Exoskeleton Study

The University of Alberta, Department of Physical Therapy is looking for participants in a research study to determine how useful exoskeletons are and what benefits they might provide. They are looking for the following type of participant:

  •   Complete (T4 or below) or incomplete SCI (C6 or below)
  •   Sufficient arm and hand strength to use crutches
  •   Currently using a manual wheelchair as the main mode of mobility
  •   Height between 5'2" to 6'4" tall, weight <220 lbs
  •   No fractures within the last 2 years
  •   Can participate in training 1.5 hr/day, 5 days/wk, for 12 weeks + a number of days of testing before and after the 12 week period

Prevention of Pressure Ulcers Study

The University of Aberta, Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is looking for volunteers with a spinal cord injury for a study that explores the use of a novel device for the prevention of pressure ulcers. Volunteers Needed for Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) Study

Do you have an incomplete spinal cord injury from C3 to T10? Can you stand or walk a few steps with an assistive device? Can you spare one hour per day to work out? the University of Alberta is looking for eligible volunteers to participate in a Functional Electrical Stimulation study for 12 weeks.
