December 2013
Saying Goodbye to 2013, Looking ahead to 2014!

On behalf of the entire Best Foot Forward team we want to say THANK YOU for a wonderful year.

We are SO proud of our students and everything they accomplished in 2013.

Watch for great things from BFF in 2014!
Proud to be BFF!

ChildNet of Palm Beach County honored Best Foot Forward with the Above and Beyond award for the agency's dedication to improving the educational performance for children in foster care.
Pictured are BFF's Debbie & Donna with Larry Rein, CEO of ChildNet Palm Beach and Laura Shoemaker, Foster Care Liaison for the PBC School District.

In 2013 we proudly nominated 2 of our students for the Florida's Children First Advocacy Award, and they both won!!

About the kids!

BFF grew in 2013! We are proud to have close to 50 students in our programs, ranging from elementary school to college. Our kids have become better students thanks to the tools and techniques
we have taught them. We are very excited to have 3 high school seniors who will graduate in May and go on to college. Our students are very appreciative of the support we provide to them. Click on the initials to read some of the thank you letters we received: AM, BM, SB, HC.

2013 saw the development and introduction of our pilot program, Foundations. Foundations serves 6 elementary school age children who are catching up to their peers through one on one attention and remediation. Research shows that the earlier you intervene with at-risk children, the better they perform in school, and in life. We are seeing it with our own eyes and are very excited to expand this program to include more students.

If you have a background in teaching and would like to work with an elementary school student, please contact Debbie

We will begin a fundraising campaign in January to fund this innovative and unique program. If you are interested in making a donation in support of the program, please contact Donna. Thank you!

About our Volunteers!

There is only one way that we can accomplish all that we do and that is with the help of volunteers. Volunteers help in so many ways and we appreciate every single one of them!

This year we nominated Neil Saffer for the
Men with Caring Hearts Award. He didn't take home the plaque, but he took home our hearts!
Board Members Frank Barbieri & Paul Klimek
Mary Ann Morgan Fried was named our BFF Volunteer of the Year for her outstanding commitment to our agency. For the Junior league Woman Volunteer of the Year, we nominated Anita Kreilein. She was up against some stiff competition and is the clear winner in our eyes. Luz Chandeck was featured as a Sun Sentinel Community Volunteer.

A special thank you to all the volunteers who make what we do possible. Keep doing what you are doing and we will keep changing lives!

Events, Events and more Events!

Great things happen when local businesses organize an event to benefit our programs. In 2013 we were thrilled to
participate in Project Evolution, an extreme workout at Evolution Fitness. For the 3rd year in a row Busy Body Fitness Center held incredible Thanksgiving Day Spin/Zumba Classes for BFF. What a fun day! Bloomingdale's has been dedicated to the BFF children over the years and hosted multiple events in 2013.

Coming up in 2014:
Walk On...Dream On is a walkathon to benefit the BFF children on February 16th organized by Dream Dorm Decorators. Click here for more information.

Save the date for our signature Kickoff Celebration event, April 25th at Boca Grove Country Club. The 2014 theme will be Touching Hearts, Building Futures, Changing Lives!
Please consider becoming a sponsor; opportunities start at just $500. Contact Donna for more information.
