Spread the word in 2013
Let's resolve to...
The Project has loads of plans for 2013. But one of our biggest remains this: To talk with more people about colon cancer prevention.

It's a goal we can all resolve to have in 2013. Screening allows people to prevent getting colon cancer because polyps can be removed.

Click here for more information on screening options and risk factors. By the time you are 40, you should discuss with your doctor your family history and the appropriate time to be screened.

Let's make 2013 a year of talking about colon cancer. Consider making it a goal to talk with at least five people in your life about screening. And if you have a way you'd like to spread the word about screening in your office, community, church, or organization, let us know!

Happy New Year!

Best wishes,
Your CCPP Family
Meet Laura
Laura Lagerstrom is a CCPP board member and the leader of our new survivor group that will meet monthly starting on Jan. 16. If you are interested in joining the group, email us or call (502) 290-0288.

Laura tells her story here:

"We never know the turns our life will take or where our journey will lead us....but one thing I know for sure...EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON. My name is Laura Lagerstrom. I am a
wife, a mother of four children, a friend to many, a nurse, a yoga teacher and so the list could go on. Never did I expect colon cancer survivor to be on that list. But it is and I am.

My roller coaster ride with colon cancer began in April, 2011 (Stage llla). It started with an emergency surgery, a surprise diagnosis post-op, six months of chemo and the journey continues with a myriad of residual effects, both physical and emotional. Never a ride I expected to take (not to mention drag my family along with me). With the love, kindness and support of my family, friends and many people who I thought were strangers (but turned out to be anything but), I am here today."
