Jane Pierce's biographer Ann Covell to speak at the Society's library on June 6
On Thursday, June 6, 2013, at 7 p.m., Ann Covell, author of the new biography of Jane Pierce (1806-63), will discuss the family, life, and times of the wife of President Franklin Pierce and one of the most intriguing, complex, and tragic of America's First Ladies. The lecture and book signing will be held at the New Hampshire Historical Society's library, 30 Park Street, Concord. Admission is free.
A British citizen, Ann Covell had an extensive career in the U.K. health service management and research sectors. Now retired, she divides her time among the U.K., Spain and the U.S. Her main interests include 19th-century history, fine arts, and politics. She is also the author of Remembering the Ladies, a compendium of essays on 19th-century U.S. first ladies.
