Happy Holidays!

2012 is almost over. What an exciting year it was - ending with the celebration of the 30th Annual Lucia Luncheon and the SACC YP Christmas Dinner! Excitement was in the air as we kicked off the Holiday Season with the luncheon. Members and guests enjoyed the festivities. During the reception, we were entertained by Göran Anner and Frida Rosen from Merula choir. The choir also performed a repertoire of Christmas songs during the Lucia procession, which had Sofie Farneman, trainee at SACC Chicago, as the Lucia.
A lot of fabulous prizes were raffled away. The lucky winner of the SAS business class tickets was Sandra Malmquist.
Congratulations! A big thank you to our Lucia Committee: Mia Bergman, Gerd Sjögren, Janis A. Rueping, Melanie Sandberg, myself and Sofie from the office, as well as additional help from Ken Carlson, Caroline Ryden Lindström, Staffan Andersson, Kerstin Brorsson, Eva Olsson and Emily Rueping!
We couldn't have done it without you - TACK!
Gunn Johnsson Executive Administrator SACC Chicago

Sharkonomics How to attack market leaders, October 25
Stefan Engeseth with SACC board member and
Sharconomics organizer, Kerstin Nicholson
Inspiring lecture and networking evening
To compare business competition to shark life is nothing new. Even the ABC television network has a current show called Shark Tank about the struggle to finance new ventures. What Stefan Engeseth did different was that he actually studied shark behavior by diving with them before writing his book Sharkonomics. He presented his theories to us at a SACC event at the Drake Hotel on October 25. We were introduced to such concepts as "spread panic, find blind spots to bite, strike unpredictably, move or die and even kill with style." The Sharkonomics book has been endorsed by Professor Philip Kotler, legendary Marketing Guru from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. a separate meeting was arranged with Mr. Kotler, who's still active at 81. Forty members, other representatives from the Chicago business world and a handful of business students f rom North Park University attended the event, which was repeated at several other SACC Chapters around the US. This is a good example of how the SACC Network can benefit each other by sharing.

NASDAQ OMX, The stock exchange company with strong Scandinavian roots, November 15
Magnus Haglind, host, and Tim Golomb, speaker, from Nasdaq OMX.
An informative evening about the stock market
We know that money and its value is becoming more and more abstract, and it can sometimes be hard to follow while stocks can change both owner and value within micro seconds. Tim Golomb, responsible for new listings at Nasdaq OMX, managed very well to explain this complicated topic and shed more light on the stock market. Guests and members of SACC Chicago were truly engaged and asked a multitude of questions about the Nasdaq OMX stock exchange and about the stock market in general. Guests networked and enjoyed the catered food. Many thanks to Magnus and Nasdaq OMX for an interesting and educational evening and for your generosity by hosting the event!
