August 23, 2016
This week we welcomed back our wonderful teachers for our week of in-service. Despite the end of their summers, the teachers came back engaged and enthusiastic to start the new year.  Right from our opening faculty meeting, there was a great buzz as we met our new staff members, caught up from being apart during the summer, and got to work for the upcoming school year.  We are truly blessed to have a group of teachers who came back to work dedicated and ready to prepare for the school year with such a positive attitude.

The goal for this week of in-service with the teachers is two-fold. First, we work hard to establish a strong sense of community among the staff, so there are activities for the staff to establish a positive rapport with one another, especially with our new teachers.  Secondly, we are very intentional about outlining the academic goals and expectations for the upcoming school year, with always the same guiding question in mind, "how will this improve student learning?"  Through our opening activities, we are able to set a vision for the year to establish academic success with all of our students.

One of the highlights of the week, is our staff day of reflection on Wednesday.  Fr. Knippel leads all SJV employees in a day filled with prayer, reflection, togetherness, and fun.  It truly sets the tone for the new year and all of the excitement that surrounds it.

We are very excited to see everyone on Friday as we open our doors for Orientation Day.  While the buzz and excitement around the building has come back, it's not quite the same without all of our students filling the hallways!

Positively SJV,
Dan Demeter, Principal
