Weekly Highlights
Congratulations to eighth graders, Ellen Fricker and Jack Lutze. They were recipients of the Marian Award and crowned Mary at the May Crowning this past Thursday.
Congratulations to our second grade students who recently made their First Communion!
Students in Mrs. Kosterman's class learned about plants, soil and worms. They also made a seed mosaic of the parts of a plant using all different kinds of seeds.
First graders in Mrs. Klement's class met with Father Knippel this week. He showed the students various items that are used at Mass. The kids learned all about the special book called the Lectionary.
Fifth graders performed the ancient myth play, "Skywoman's Rescue", which is a tale about how the earth came to be. They collaborated in small groups to come up with their own unique performances.
The SJV and POP sixth graders went to
St. Francis Seminary for Mass and a tour.
6th grade SJV and POP students collaborated to create circle art that represents what their faith looks like to them.
The band students of SJV and St. Dominic's performed at the High Note Festival, Six Flags Great America. Their performance was awesome and they received an excellent rating!  The band members represented our schools admirably - very polite and enthusiastic!
To find out more information or to see how fun track practices are,
4th - 7th graders are invited to come to the Track Open House on May 19th from 5:30-7:00pm at the Brookfield Central track.

May 10, 2016
We are extremely proud of the education that we can provide for all of the students at St. John Vianney. We have a number of wonderful programs that support our mission to provide an education that matches every child, and we have a tremendously talented and dedicated staff to live out that mission. Earlier this year, we applied for the Academic Excellence award through the Exemplary Recognition Program offered by the Archdioceses of Milwaukee. It was decided by the review team that our school is deserving of an on-site visit, which is the next phase in the process of attainment of the award.

On Friday, we have the opportunity to demonstrate to the visiting team all of the wonderful programs we have in place to support our strong mission of academic excellence. The visiting team will consist of Sue Nelson, Associate Superintendent for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Mary Burke, Consultant, Catapult Learning, Dr. Nancy Athansaiou, Dean of Education for Alverno College, and Dr. Stephanie Burnander, Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh . The team's goal is to gather evidence that St. John Vianney is exemplary in the field of academic excellence during a four-hour visit. The team will interview administration, teachers, students, and parents; they will visit classrooms, and review artifacts. It will be a whirlwind four hours for everyone involved, but we are extremely proud of all of the different aspects that prove we provide an exemplary education to all of our students. We look forward to this great opportunity and are humbled by receiving the honor of an on-site visit.

Wish us luck as we prepare for Friday's visit!

Positively SJV,
Dan Demeter, Principal
Walk By Faith
All-School Liturgy
All are welcome to join us for All-School Liturgy on Wednesday, May 11 at 8:05am.  Mass will be prepared by the 6th grade classes.  Deacon Michael Wolfe will concelebrate the All-School Liturgy on May 11.  After Mass, he will speak to our 8th graders.  This will be his last Seminarian Connection visit to SJV before his ordination on May 21.
This past Friday, a number of Middle School Students competed at Inspirio Youth Ministries in Nashotah in the annual Faith-a-Thon.  Prior to this, these dedicated students came in on weekends to practice their faith facts with the guidance of high-school coaches and Mr. Dempsey.  Their hard work and determination paid off: of a possible 6 overall places in the final round, our teams occupied 4!  In the end, the 6th grade teams placed 2nd and 3rd while the 8th graders pulled out a fantastic 2nd and 3rd place finish as well!  Way to go Mighty Doves!
Seminarian Connection

SJV Uniform Resale
Monday, June 6th, 8:00-10:00am
and 2:30-4:00pm in P210

NEW THIS YEAR:
Home and School is no longer running the uniform resale as a consignment sale. Therefore, any and all proceeds from the sale will be donated to the SJV Home and School Association to use for programming to benefit all the students of SJV.

If you would like to donate uniform items for the sale,
you can drop them off in front of the parish office on Sunday, June 5th before or after the 9:00am and 11:00am masses
.  The resale is a great opportunity for families to purchase gently used uniforms. You will find a good selection of short and long sleeved polo shirts, pants and shorts; jumpers and skirts, sweatshirts and leggings. When donating items, please be mindful that shoppers at the sale are looking for items in decent condition. Please don't donate items that are stained or well worn.

Box Top Drive
We will have our spring box top drive from May 11- May 20. If we collect 4,000 box tops, the students earn a non-uniform day.  This is a great way to help earn funds for Home and School activities without spending anything extra.  Have your student find and trim the box tops in your house if he/she wants to earn a non-uniform day.  For every box top, our school earns 10 cents - it really adds up!
May SCRIP Dates
Monday, May 16, 23 and
Tuesday, May 31

It's time to beautify your landscapes and flowerpots!  Many options to purchase SCRIP including Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware or Menards.  Make plans to order SCRIP today!  Please send them to school by 8:30am on order dates.  If you have any questions, please contact Martha Connelly, Amy Lodes or Janet Fisher.  We will be ordering SCRIP this summer and will pass those dates on to you soon.

If you are thinking about ordering online, go to shopwithscrip.com.  Set up your account and use SJV's enrollment code:  B13DA8633L15
Follow the prompts and enjoy the ease of ordering from your home.  Unless you set up PrestoPay, you would still send in a check to pay for your cards due by Monday morning at 8:30am.  PrestoPay is the system that you would set up to automatically draw from your checking account.  You can sign up on the same site-follow the prompts.  In a few days, you will receive an enrollment code via email.  Send the code to Martha or Janet and they will activate your account.  By doing this, you would be able to reload physical scrip cards, print your ecards at home, or even pay with your smart phone in the checkout lane.
