Weekly Highlights
SJV students mingled with parishioners after 7:00am Mass.  They shared a snack and conversation and then Mrs. Pyzyk took them on a tour of the school.
5th grade students  had the opportunity to hang out with the 7th graders.  They ate lunch together to ask and answer questions about them about middle school classes, lockers and homework.
The first graders are learning about the different types of clouds.  They predicted what would happen when you put Ivory soap in the microwave. It made a cloud!
The first graders made 3D shapes out of toothpicks and marshmallows. They made cubes, rectangular prisms and triangular prisms. Then they determined how many sides and how many vertices each shape had.
Students in Mrs. McRae's class are learning about growing and planting this week, so what better way than to explore dirt and worms!
The K4 students moved to the jungle beat as they performed Rumble in the Jungle.
The K5-5th grade students had a fabulous afternoon participating in High Interest Day.  Thank you to all of the planners, presenters and volunteers for making this day so much fun!

St. John Vianney works hard to support your efforts in shaping the opportunities that help your children grow as capable, strong, well-adjusted followers of Christ. One of the ways that we accomplish this is with our twinning relationship with Prince of Peace School in Milwaukee. Once each school year, every grade level participates in a special event that helps build and strengthen the relationship between the students from both schools. We feel that it is extremely important for our students to build relationships and a sense of community with people that they might not normally get to otherwise. This past school year, we have participated in a number of great events with Prince of Peace that highlight our excellent school and our strong commitment to the Catholic faith.

Some of the highlights from this past year include:
  • K4, K5, and 1st grade students from Prince of Peace came to SJV for our Nativity and Rumble in the Jungle plays with a snack and activity
  • 5th graders from SJV went to Prince of Peace to celebrate the Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass and had breakfast with their 5th graders
  • The second grade students at both schools exchanged First Communion cards as both schools prepared to make their First Communion
  • 7th grade students from both schools completed a service project at Feeding America in Milwaukee in which they prepared frozen pizzas for homeless shelters.
  • 8th grade students went bowling together to celebrate their upcoming graduations and a successful twinning relationship.
Thank you for your continued support of Saint John Vianney School, but also our extremely and rewarding relationship with Prince of Peace School.

Positively SJV,
Dan Demeter, Principal
Walk By Faith

May Crowning

You are invited to a wonderful May Crowning and Living Rosary event at SJV. During this event, our 2nd and 8th grade students act as the individual beads of the rosary as we progress through the prayer. Before the Living Rosary begins, we crown the Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus, which recognizes Mary as Queen of heaven and earth.

SJV Uniform Resale
Monday, June 6th, 8:00-10:00am
and 2:30-4:00pm in P210

NEW THIS YEAR:
Home and School is no longer running the uniform resale as a consignment sale. Therefore, any and all proceeds from the sale will be donated to the SJV Home and School Association to use for programming to benefit all the students of SJV.

If you would like to donate uniform items for the sale, you can drop them off in front of the parish office on Sunday, June 5th before or after the 9:00am and 11:00am masses.  The resale is a great opportunity for families to purchase gently used uniforms. You will find a good selection of short and long sleeved polo shirts, pants and shorts; jumpers and skirts, sweatshirts and leggings. When donating items, please be mindful that shoppers at the sale are looking for items in decent condition. Please don't donate items that are stained or well worn.
Box Top Drive
We will have our spring box top drive from May 11- May 20. If we collect 4,000 box tops, the students earn a non-uniform day.  This is a great way to help earn funds for Home and School activities without spending anything extra.  Have your student find and trim the box tops in your house if he/she wants to earn a non-uniform day.  For every box top, our school earns 10 cents - it really adds up!
May SCRIP Dates
Monday, May 9, 16, 23 and
Tuesday, May 31.

Mark your calendars and make sure to get your orders to school by 8:30am   There are so many occasions to use Scrip as gifts this month:  First Communion, Mother's Day or graduations.  Perhaps you have a wedding in the family or a birthday party gift to purchase.  Think about giving gift cards!  Who doesn't like to receive one?  For a limited time, small denomination cards are available.  Go to shopwithscrip.com for more details.  If you have any questions, please contact Martha Connelly, Amy Lodes or Janet Fisher.

If you are thinking about ordering online, go to shopwithscrip.com.  Set up your account and use SJV's enrollment code:  B13DA8633L15
Follow the prompts and enjoy the ease of ordering from your home.  Unless you set up PrestoPay, you would still send in a check to pay for your cards due by Monday morning at 8:30.  PrestoPay is the system that you would set up to automatically draw from your checking account.  You can sign up on the same site-follow the prompts.  In a few days, you will receive an enrollment code via email.  Send the code to Martha or Janet and they will activate your account.  By doing this, you would be able to reload physical scrip cards, print your ecards at home, or even pay with your smart phone in the checkout lane.

Vacation Bible School Volunteers Needed
We need both adult and youth volunteers for Cave Quest, June 20-24 from 8:30am to noon daily.  We need crew leaders and station leaders, K4 & K5 teachers, juice pourers, snack makers, etc.  This is a great experience for college students, retired people, or anyone who enjoys children and loves God!  If this week does not work for you, you can help before the event with decorations, preparing materials, and shopping.
