Power School News and Notes:  Now that we have Power School up and running, I am hoping that you are becoming more comfortable with the program and are getting used to its lay-out, format, etc. Are we where we want to be yet? Not quite. Rolling this program out to all of our families has been a pretty big job, with a lot of moving parts. We are discovering more and more of the features of Power School and I want to make sure that each facet of Power School is clearly communicated. This week I want to focus on viewing current assignments for your child.

How do I view current assignments on Power School?
Teachers will be posting assignments on Power School as they assign them to the students, not when the assignment is collected and graded, so you should be able to see all of most current and active assignments when logging into Power School. Here's how:
  • When logged into a computer - Click on the current grade for each class, and it will bring up all of the assignments that have been given for that class, including all active assignments. They are listed in chronological order, starting with the oldest assignments, through the most current. If the assignment is linked, please click on it for more information.
  •  When viewing the app - On the main screen when you login, select "assignments" from the bottom row of options. It will then bring up all of the student's assignments, starting with the most current and active ones, through the older ones. If it has a score, the teacher has graded the assignment already. If not, the teacher has not completed grading the assignment. You can click on any assignment to bring up more information.
I hope that you find this helpful when search for your child's assignments. In my opinion, the app is a little more efficient for viewing assignments because you can see all assignments in all subjects under the "assignments" tab. On an actual computer, you must click on each individual class.

There will be definitely be more news and announcements to come regarding Power School, but I thought this might be helpful to keep track of assignments for the night.

Positively SJV!

Session 1: "Faith: Are we slowly losing it?"

October 14th, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm, Presentation Hall
Faith: This is a commonly used term, but what, in fact, does it mean, and how do we receive it? Faith is given to us in Baptism and is a gift that helps us to understand and love God. As faith slowly dwindles in this society, so does the family or one might say that as family life dwindles, faith dwindles. Both are true, yet faith is preserved and passed on through family life, so why in our society, do we see a decline in faith life?
