September 1, 2015
We are off and running and we have the first week under our belts! It was great to have our hallways filled with energy, excitement and learning again! Thank you to everyone who made last week a huge success! One of the highlights of my first week was going out into the classrooms to see all of the amazing things our teachers and students are doing every day. Here are just a few examples:
  • 1st grade art students created self-portraits
  • Middle school students discussed presidential candidates in social studies and wrote about a scientific event from their summer in science class
  • 4th grade students created structures using pasta and marshmallows to work on team building
  • 5th grade students rapped, sang, and created their own experiments to study the scientific method.
Great job everyone! Here are some the highlights and reminders for this week:

  • Welcome to our friends from Peru!- Fr. Joe Uhen, Edith and Veronica from our sister parish, Santsimo Sacramento Parish in Peru, will be with us for all-school Mass this Wednesday. In addition, the 1st-8th graders from St. Anthony on the Lake will be joining us for Mass, as they are also a sister parish with Santsimo Sacramento. After we celebrate mass together, Fr. Joe will speak to all of the students about life in Peru and the important relationship between the parishes. The St. Anthony students will then take a few minutes to visit our classrooms. Please note that the all-school Mass will begin at 8:30am on Wednesday morning.
  • September 1st - World Day of Prayer - Pope Francis has asked us to set aside today, September 1, as a World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. The prayer day will be celebrated in line with the Church's day for the protection of the environment. Here is a brief prayer in commemoration of this special day:
O Lord, good Father, who in your providence have entrusted the earth to the human race, grant, we pray, that we may care for all of creation and with your help restore all that has been marred, so that you may cause the seeds of justice and the fruits of charity to spring up in our hearts. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.  Amen.
  • Traffic Reminders - Thank you to everyone who has been cooperative with the new traffic pattern for pick up and drop off. Things seems to be going smoother each day as we get into a rhythm and get more comfortable with things. We ask that you please use the car line if possible when picking up and dropping off. We realize there will be those times when you need to park on the parish side and walk in, but for safety purposes, we prefer that you utilize the car line. Thank you!
Positively SJV,
