Let's Toot Our Own Horn!
Several of our 8th grade students attended UW-Whitewater band camp this summer. 3 of the students made it to top band and 1 was selected to receive the Outstanding Camper Award, which means a scholarship to attend camp next year! Way to go musicians!
August 11, 2015
Greetings!
Here are some of the latest news and notes as we prepare to begin the school year:

New Hires: With a new school year right around the corner, I wanted to introduce to you our new hires. We are pleased to announce the following great additions for the 2015-2016 school year. Please welcome our newest staff members to SJV when you see them and read all about them on our SJV website!
  • Mr. Francis Dempsey
  • Ms. Rachel Borkowski
  • Mrs. Amanda Prosser
  • Futura Language Professionals
Power School: Mr. Stemper, Mrs. Peterson, and myself are attending a three day training session this week for our new student information system, Power School. Power School has been adopted by many Archdiocesan schools this year and will house our online grading system, schedules, teacher pages and more. Power School will provide "one stop shopping" for parents and students alike, as there will no longer be a need for Teacherweb and Webgrader. After the teachers are up and running on Power School, we will provide all school families with login information and key information for accessing the parent portal for Power School.

Recess Monitor Needed- 1 Hour per Full School Day: We are looking for an individual to collaborate with faculty and administration in supporting the mission and goals of the school. The individual would provide outdoor supervision for safe play during lunchtime recess, provide hallway supervision to promote safe and orderly transitions, and provide indoor supervision during inclement lunchtime recess. Interested people should contact Dan Demeter for more information about this opportunity.

Thank you everyone! We will see you soon!

Donations Requested for K4 and K5

Mrs. Andrucci is looking for 60 matchbox-type cars for an alphabet game. If you have any that are no longer being played with, she and her students could put them to good use!

This year Mrs. McRae is transforming her housekeeping center into a new imaginative play center each month. Many of you have some awesome jobs and she was wondering if you could help her collect some items? Some of the things she was hoping to collect would be items to make a doctor's office, a vet, restaurant items, grocery store, etc. If you have any items that may be of use for her classroom, please drop them off in the school office.  Her students would truly appreciate it! Thanks.

Orientation Day help needed.
Hello SJV families - We look forward to seeing your family at SJV's Orientation Day on Friday, August 21. To make this morning a success, we are in need of middle school students and adult volunteers.
There are several opportunities for you and your middle schooler to volunteer for a short shift and still have plenty of time to accomplish all of your family's own Orientation Day tasks (submitting forms, visiting classrooms, having school pictures taken, etc.)
Volunteer hours for middle school students will count toward the annual student service hour requirements.

Back to School Uniform Resale!

New this year, we are holding a uniform resale before the school year begins. Pick up your school packet after mass and stop in and shop at the resale.

Where: Parish Center, Room P210

When: Sunday, August 16th after the 9:00 AM
            and 11:00 AM masses

For those who didn't get a chance to sell their uniforms at the end of last school year, now is your chance.  Uniforms can be dropped off on Wednesday, August 12th and Thursday, August 13th from 9:00-Noon at the school office. When dropping off items, you MUST have them clearly marked with tape that includes your name and asking price. You will need to fill out an envelope indicating whether you want any unsold items returned to you or donated. The envelopes will be returned to school families with any proceeds earned via backpack or pick up in the school office.

If you have any questions, please feel free and contact Amy Lodes or Gina Boettcher.

Back to School Bash- August 28
Mark your calendars to bring the whole family to school for the Back to School Bash.  The bash will be on Friday, August 28  from 6:00-8:00pm.  Bring a lawn chair and snack on popcorn and ice cream and enjoy live music by the Extra Crispy Brass Band.

Volunteers are needed to make this event run smoothly.  Check out our volunteer page on Sign Up Genius.
