He presented each fourth grader with a medal of St. John Paul II that was blessed by Pope Francis and invited all fourth graders to witness his ordination on May 16th at the Cathedral.

Our jazz band, consisting of 34 students, received a 1st rating for the 2nd year in a row! Besides receiving all 1st and 2nd ratings, one vocal student- Sarah N, got a *1st rating and will be going on to perform at state, which will be held at UW-M. You can only get a * rating in class A, which is usually high school students. Congratulations to Sarah and all of the students who performed at solo & ensemble!

Throughout Lent, members of the Laudate Children's Choir worked on a Lenten discipline called "The Clean Heart Project".
Before rehearsals began, the children discussed what they could do to make their hearts clean during Lent and prepare for the Resurrection. On a purple heart they wrote down what they would be doing and placed it in a special box that stays out every week as they rehearse. Before they sing on Easter Sunday, they'll open the box and talk about how well they did at making their "Clean Heart".

We are committed to best practice and have been awarded national recognition for integrated best practice. Our local action research is an example of such. Following fall conferences, parents were asked to respond to six statements toward the goal of learning about perceptions of differentiated instruction at St. John Vianney School. The summary of the data is provided for your review. We were pleased at the level of positive perceptions shared at this early stage of the differentiation initiative. Later this spring we will again distribute the same survey and provide results for your review. It is our hope that results will communicate increased positive perceptions as we approach the end of the first year of our school improvement plan for differentiation.

Save Your Tabs for the Ronald McDonald House and Bring Them to SJV The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. Collecting pop tabs is a great way to teach kids about philanthropy and the importance of recycling, and raise funds to help children and their families at the same time. Some of our Chapters raise thousands of dollars with their pop tab collections. Why? Ronald McDonald Houses collect pop tabs instead of entire aluminum cans because it's more hygienic to store tabs than cans, and collection and storage is easier. The program is an easy way for people of all ages to support RMHC and know they are making a difference for families and children. How much? The Upper Midwest raises approximately $30,000 a year through their pop tab program. Now that is a lot of pop tabs! Did you ever think it could be so easy to help families in need? Where? Bring all the pull tabs to the St John Vianney School Office anytime throughout the school year.
