The Kauai Channel, about 70 miles wide, separates the island of Kauai from which other Hawaiian island? Did you know the answer to this question is Oahu?  These were the type of questions asked in the annual geography bee.

On December 14, members of the Laudate Children's Choir performed for residents at the Regency Senior Living Center.  The children sang Advent and Christmas Carols and led the seniors in a Christmas sing-a-long.

Several student from the choir performed piano solos. At the conclusion of the concert, the choristers passed out Christmas cards they made to each resident.

Sixth graders celebrated DARE graduation on Friday, December 19 in the church hall. They were taught by Brookfield Officer Kevin David once a week for ten weeks this past fall. The students really enjoyed DARE class and all they learned from Officer David. He did a great job working with the students.

The 8th grade boys A basketball team won the SJV tournament on December 14.  The team and coaching staff is pictured above and the team trophy is on display in the SJV trophy case.

The 5th and 7th grade Girl Scout troops of SJV's Parish School volunteered in November and December at St. Hyacinth's Food Pantry on 14th and Becher in Milwaukee.  The St. Hyacinth Food Pantry is run by St. John Vianney parishioner Jim Luther.  It is open for 2 hours every Tuesday and Wednesday and serves hundreds of families each month.  Clients can receive food, toiletries, clothing, and visit with a nurse.  To learn more about their mission, contact Jim or Bev Luther at 414-783-5147.

Help Decorate for Christmas

There are many ways to help decorate the Church for Christmas, and we need many volunteers. You can help the Liturgical Environment Committee on Tuesday morning (10:00am), December 23, with the installation of the live trees in the church and the assembly of artificial trees in the Narthex.  That afternoon (1:00pm), decorating Narthex trees with student and parish family ornaments.  In the afternoon, work will continue in the church and outside the chapel until it is finished.  Wreaths will be hung, pine garland strung, and we will be setting up the nativity. Email Angela Bravata for more details or call 262-796-3947.  All are welcome and encouraged to participate!
