Buddies from both SJV 2nd and 7th grades got together in the cafeteria to make Christmas cards for Prince of Peace students. Beside decorating the cards, the students wrote messages in both English and Spanish to wish the Prince of Peace children a very Merry Christmas.

1K and1W are collecting money during Advent by doing chores at home. All money collected will go the the Working Boys Center in Quito, Ecuador. The first graders want to make Christmas a happy time for the 1st graders at the Working Boys Center. Mrs. Czarnecki, who traveled there on December 3, told us a little bit of the background about the Working Boys Center. She delivered Christmas cards to our 1st grade friends in Ecuador!

We are so blessed to be a Catholic school where we can really focus on the quiet beauty of the liturgical season of Advent. There will be plenty of time to celebrate Christmas. For now, we are taking the time for prayer, reflection and anticipation focused on the gift of new life received through the Christ child. We are intent on our commitment to Walk by Faith following the true light that is Jesus. In addition to our regular daily prayer we gather as a school on Monday morning for each of these four weeks of Advent to reflect on this time of blessed waiting. Each day we receive a daily Advent reflection prepared by Father Philip Schumaker. Online Advent links further complement our classroom activities. Students in third through eighth grade will participate in a special opportunity for Eucharistic Adoration on Tuesday the 16th.
This is also a time for quiet prayer and reflection for faculty and staff of SJV. Our School Theology and Faith Formation committee has prepared a series of prayerful activities for our continuing spiritual growth. Superintendent Dr. Kathleen Cepelka sends a daily Advent prayer for us as well. The prayer below is one of my favorites.
Peace,

Table Seating at Bids
Now is the time to think about getting a table together for Bids. Talk amongst friends as you drop off for K4, at the end of the day at pick-up, or at basketball games. Tables seat 10 people and invitations will come home in early January. You can always have a smaller group and ask to be seated with others from a specific grade.
