3rd and 8th grade buddies met to collaborate with Halloween reading and writing.

Fifth grade students visited the Survive Alive House. One of the many things they learned was how to properly use a fire extinguisher and put out a flame.

The sixth grade went to the Northern Kettle Moraine to learn about Wisconsin geology.

At St. John Vianney School, we persist in our endeavors to increase our capacity to serve all God's children. There will be no all-school liturgy on October 22. Students in grades 3-8 will participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
All are invited to pray with us at the next all-school liturgy, which will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 29 at 8:05am. Mass will be prepared by Mrs. Blaha's fifth grade class.

Pep Rally- All are InvitedOn Friday, October 24, come and cheer on our 8th grade volleyball students and wish the participants of the Seton Volleyball Tournament, "Good Luck!" The pep rally will be held in the gym, beginning at 2:10pm. Further information about the tournament, including game times, can be found at www.theseton.org.

 Fall Fest Concert
Please come for music and fun on Tuesday, October 28 at 7:00pm in the SJV Activity Center. Band and Orchestra students from St. Dominic and St. John Vianney schools will perform Halloween and Disney music. There will also be a special performance by the SJV Fourth Grade Choir. Come to listen and see all performers in Halloween costumes! There will be treats for audience members in costumes! It will be a great evening of entertainment!

Halloween Parade
Students in grades K5-3 will participate in a Halloween Parade on October 31 at 10:15am. Students will wrap through the school and parade down to the gym where parents and relatives will gather to watch.
School will dismiss at 11:30am.

Upcoming Special Attire Days
- Monday, October 27: Students who participate in the Soles for Catholic Education Walk may wear their 2014 T-shirts with pants or shorts that follow the non-uniform day guidelines. There is still time to register for the walk!
- Friday, October 31: Halloween will be a non-uniform day. All grades, please follow the directions of your teacher regarding the wearing of costumes.

Missing Silverware The cafeteria is missing lots of silverware. If your child has accidentally taken any forks or spoons home with them, please take a moment to send them back to school. It would also be appreciated if you could remind your students that when taking hot lunch, the silverware should be put in the rinse bucket and not the trash can. Thank you.

 Shoe Collection Last year we collected over 450 pairs of shoes for the Soles for Education Walk. This year we are challenging you to fill Mrs. Blaha's van full of shoes. We will need more than 450 pairs of shoes to accomplish this task, so please dig out those old shoes, boots, and cleats and bring them to school until October 24. Each pair of shoes must be rubber banded together or in a plastic bag.

Plan to attend the Home and School meeting this Wednesday, October 22, in P209 at 6:30pm. It is an evening meeting, so line up a sitter and learn about upcoming events, volunteer signups, and exciting activities coming our way! October is National Fire Prevention Month so SJV Dine Out is going to Firehouse Subs!

The Pumpkin Gospel
Did you ever wonder how our Halloween traditions came to be? Join us for a Christian celebration of Halloween on Friday, October 24th from 6:30-8:00pm in the Church Hall. We ask each family to bring a pumpkin and your own carving tools. (please be careful). Come in costume if you wish. Please RSVP at 796-3944 with number of adults and children attending. Registration is required, although there is no cost for the event. A spooky good time will be had by all!

This biennial event is our largest fundraiser! All proceeds raised at Bids for Kids will go directly towards technological advancements and school improvements (ie. primary bathroom updates).

DSHA Open House
Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, an all-girls Catholic, college preparatory school in Milwaukee, will host an Open House from 10:00am-1:00pm on Sunday, October 26. All families interested in learning more about DSHA are encouraged to attend. The event is free and open to the public, with a Mass being celebrated at 9:00am and tours beginning at 10:00am. Entrance to the school and parking is located at 4257 N. 100th Street.
The DSHA Entrance Exam is required for all 8th grade girls considering DSHA. Two dates are offered:
· Friday, November 7 from 8:00-11:30am
· Saturday, November 8 from 8:00-11:30am
Registration is required for the Saturday test date. Please register at www.dsha.info. Marquette University High School Open House
MUHS will host its annual Open House on Sunday, October 26 between the hours of 10:00am. and 1:00pm. Mass will be offered at 9:00am at the school in the Three Holy Companions Chapel. This is a great event for families interested in learning more about MUHS. Click here for the flyer.

7th Annual Catholic Memorial Haunted House
The students of Catholic Memorial will be hosting a Haunted House Oct. 24, 25, 31 and Nov. 1 from 7:00 to 10:00pm. with a family friendly hour at 6:00pm on Saturday, Oct. 25 and Nov 1. The cost is $7.00 per person and is not recommended for children under age 11 during regular hours. Click here for the flyer.
