Weekly Highlights

Last week the fifth graders traveled to the Buckskinner Encampment in Hartford.  The students got to experience life styles, traditions, and customs of the early 1800's.  The students participated in demonstrations of wigwam building, candle making, cloth dying, flint fire starting, primitive cooking, and many more early American activities.

While on a field trip to study goods and services at the Greendale Village, 1K students met Mr. Reiman, the owner of Reiman publishing.  He gave our class a beautiful Wisconsin Calendar and talked to us a little bit about what he does. Mr. Reiman is on the right side of the picture.

The 8th Grade Girls A team took 2nd place at a recent tournament.  Way to go, Shamrocks!

September 30, 2014
Greetings!

We made it! Over a year of careful preparation and self-study has brought us to this week when we welcome the eleven member team of educators representing WRISA, who come to audit our files, review our artifacts, visit our classrooms, and interview our students, staff, teachers, parents, volunteers, education committee leadership, administration, and pastoral leaders.

What will they find? Faith. Excellence. Community.

How was all this accomplished? Through the blessings of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The SJV faculty, staff, and administrators gathered with the visiting team at 7:00 this morning for a prayer service to mark the opening of the re-accreditation visit. We shared this prayer together.

Lord, in your goodness,

you have made us stewards of your gifts

and called us in freedom to use them wisely.

We ask you to guide our minds and hearts

with your wisdom throughout this re-accreditation visit.

May our work to continually grow and improve your Catholic Schools be a faithful reflection of your Son's Gospel message.

We make this prayer to you through Christ our Lord.

Peace,

School Annual Fund

On Monday, we started the SJV school families portion of the 2014-2015 Curé d'Ars SJV School Annual Fund.  Over the next few weeks, your class captains will be delivering your packet to you personally.  They will be happy to discuss and answer any questions regarding the 2014-2015 Curé d'Ars SJV School Annual Fund.  Money raised through the Annual Fund will continue to provide (1) funds for the professional development and retention of our school staff, (2) cutting-edge technology for our students; and (3) tuition assistance for children to attend our school who might otherwise not be able to do so.

We strive to have 100% of school families participate by returning their Letter of Intent by November 7, 2014.

Please remember that your gifts can take the form of prayer, time and talent, or financial contributions.

We can all be a part of the success of this critical endeavor!

Thank you!

NOW Collecting Coats for Kids

The students of SJV are once again collecting gently worn winter coats for the Coats for Kids drive. The collection is taking place Monday, September 29th through Friday, October 3rd.

As you and your children assess their needs for the upcoming winter, and purchase new apparel, please keep in mind those who might not otherwise have a warm winter coat to wear. There is a child in our own local community, who would truly appreciate the coat that no longer fits your child. They will be cleaned.

Thank you for your support of this most worthwhile service project in which our students can practice the Corporal Works of Mercy in a meaningful way.

An Interview with Fr. Joe Uhen

The 7th and 8th grade students from the Discipleship elective class compiled questions they wanted to ask Father Joe Uhen, the priest from our sister parish in Piura, Peru. Students were given this opportunity when Fr. Joe spoke with the middle school students on Thursday, September 11.  Father Joe's responses were very enlightening and informative for the students.  Please check these out for yourself by clicking here.
