September 2, 2014
Sigh. Labor Day weekend was wonderful, but now summer is (unofficially) over. But it was such a wonderful summer - full of travel, new experiences and lots of learning. The faculty and staff of SJV were busy doing all kinds of things that will enhance our teaching.

We hope that everyone in our St. John Vianney School community had a wonderful summer to discover, dream, rest, laugh, ponder, play, explore and create. Let's thank God for the blessing of summer!

Peace,

What's New with SCRIP?

We are up and running with online ordering!  If interested, go to the website, www.shopwithscrip.com and set up your username and password.  Use our school's enrollment code, B13DA8633L15.  If you have any questions, please let us know and we will help walk you through it.  What are the benefits?  Paper cards you can print at home, easy at-home ordering and reloads to plastic cards you already have!  If you set up PrestoPay, you can have funds automatically withdrawn from your bank account which will allow you to have access to your SCRIP sooner.  If you choose to pay with a check, we will need to receive it by Monday morning at 8:30am to release your cards.

Are we pushing you to order online?  No--We will still process paper orders every Monday morning like usual.  You can pay with a check and cards will be available on Thursdays.  But we want you to know this new ordering format is available to you.  Thank you for ordering and supporting SJV!  Email the Scrip committee members if you have any questions.

Schwan's Fundraising

Schwan's

St. John Vianney School is partnering with Schwan's to offer you high-quality frozen foods and Schwan's will give back a percentage of the sales to SJV's Home and School Association.  Through October 6th, SJV will earn 20% of all sales.   If you place another Schwan's order between October 6, 2014 and August 21, 2015 Schwan's will donate 5% of the order total to SJV.  Purchases of eCertificates, sold in denominations of $25, earn 40% for SJV.  During the Campaign, use this link to place your order. Delivery is right to your door-you get to pick the date and time within a 2-hour window.  You do not need to be home, they will pack your order in high quality reusable freezer bags with gel packs and you can pay by credit card when you place your order.

Anyone can use our link or search for St. John Vianney to place an order.  If you have relatives living out of state or elsewhere in the greater Milwaukee area, their purchases can help SJV too.  Their local Schwan's driver will make the delivery.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kim Tallmadge at 262-789-9392 or sktallmadge@sbcglobal.net.

Bids for Kids Auction

Bids for Kids Dinner and Auction

Save the date- February 15, 2015.

A magical evening featuring a silent auction, delicious appetizers, dinner, drinks, a fabulous live auction and after-party to benefit St. John Vianney Catholic School.  All are invited to attend.  Please mark your calendars and plan to attend the SJV school event of the year!

Acquisitions

The planning for our biennial auction has already begun.  One key to a successful auction is a great Acquisitions Committee.  Our current chairs, Karen Parks and Amy Lodes, are in need of committee members.  From September through December, committee members will contact past donors, businesses, and families, etc., for donations.  It will be coordinated and organized with the entire committee and Karen and Amy.

There is a planning meeting on Thursday, September 11th at 7:30 at the Lodes residence.  All are welcome to attend.  This committee is small-child friendly because a large portion of the work can be done via phone.  If you have any questions, please contact Karen at 262-649-3745 or Amy at 262-796-9963.

Fr. Joe Uhen's Visit at September 13 & 14 Masses

Fr. Joe Uhen, pastor of Santisimo Sacramento (our Sister Parish in Peru), and two of his parish staff, Fanny Nizama and Edith Lopez, will be visiting St. John Vianney the weekend of September 13 and September 14 and will be speaking at all the Masses. A Pot Luck Supper, where Fr. Joe will be speaking, will be held after the 4:30 Mass on Saturday, September 13 in the Church Hall. If you plan on attending, please bring a salad, entrée dish or dessert to share to the Church Hall before the 4:30 Mass. A coffee and doughnut reception will follow each of the Sunday Masses on September 14 in the Church Hall. These events are wonderful opportunities to meet and speak with Fr. Joe, Fanny and Edith while they are visiting our parish.
