It is wonderful to be together again. School is just a building unless the people who make up our SJV community are here. On Orientation Day, we began our school year with a celebration of all we achieved together for our collaborative efforts in technology, innovative programming, and marketing and recruitment. We will have additional school community celebration days throughout the school year in observance of other special events and landmarks. On Friday, October 3, all students and staff are encouraged to wear their new Exemplary! T-shirts. That day is significant because earlier that week there will be a three-day on-site review of every aspect of our school programming as the final step for our re-accreditation by WRISA (Wisconsin Religious and Independent Schools Association). We are well positioned to have yet another opportunity to verify the strength of the Faith, Excellence, and Community of St. John Vianney School.

Please pray for us in the words of this prayer from the Alliance for Catholic Education.

God our Maker,

We praise you for the gift of community.

Thank you for the communities in which we work and live.

Thank you for the community that is your Body, the Church.

Fill us with Your Spirit today so that, as one,

We reflect your light and love to each other and to the world.

In Christ we pray.

Amen.

Home and School Notes

Thank you to Gina Tegge for organizing and directing Orientation Day and to all our volunteers who made the day a success!

Thank you so much to all who dropped off donations for the Teacher/Staff Luncheon!  It was greatly appreciated by the church staff and the SJV teachers.  The next luncheon will be held on October 22.

Congratulations to the winners of the Orientation Day raffles- Laci Crow was the winner of a $10 Yo Mama gift card and Carie Mueller was the winner of the Box Tops Basket.

Please remember to send in your donation for the Teacher Gift Fund. We ask for a donation of $10 per child. This money is used to purchase gifts for the teachers on their birthday and for their end-of-the-year-gifts. Showing our gratitude to the teachers for all their efforts with the kids is an important part of our mission as SJV parents.  You can send your donation (cash or check made out to SJV) in an envelope marked "Home and School Treasurer, Teacher Gift Fund" to the office.

Help the Ronald McDonald House
SJV Pop Tab Collection

The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children.  Collecting pop tabs is a great way to teach kids about philanthropy and the importance of recycling, and raise funds to help children and their families at the same time. Some of our Chapters raise thousands of dollars with their pop tab collections.

Why?  Ronald McDonald Houses collect pop tabs instead of entire aluminum cans because it's more hygienic to store tabs than cans and collection and storage is easier.  The program is an easy way for people of all ages to support RMHC and know they are making a difference for families and children.

How much?  The Upper Midwest raises approximately $30,000 a year through their pop tab program. Now that is a lot of pop tabs! Did you ever think it could be so easy to help families in need?

Where?  Bring all the pop tabs to the St John Vianney School Office anytime throughout the school year.

Thank you for making a positive difference!
