Dear Affordable Housing Professional,

The deadline for Scholarship Applications is fast approaching!  Help your residents take advantage of this great opportunity!  Each year the Art Contest and purchase of calendars goes to support the NAHMA Educational Foundation.  Your residents could be awarded a scholarship through this foundation.

As you may already be aware, the NAHMA Educational Foundation Scholarship 2014 application is currently posted on the NAHMA Website and has a FIRM DEADLINE of May 30th, 2014 @ 10pm (EST) for completed applications to be submitted.

 

We would like to take just a moment of your time, and ask you to encourage your residents to begin the application process ASAP if they have not already done so.

 

Any resident in good standing at an AHMA affiliated apartment community that is a high school senior or high school graduate and enrolled at a community college, college/university or trade/technical school is eligible to apply.  

 
The application is available at http://www.nahma.org/content/ed_found.html and must be filed online by May 30, 2014. Completed applications must include an application form, an essay, 2 references, a current grade transcript and a Certification of Residency In Good Standing form.  For more details on applying for a NAHMA Educational Foundation scholarship, contact Dr. Bruce W. ELIGIBILITY
The following individuals are eligible for NAHMA Educational Foundation grants provided
they meet the additional criteria outlined in the scholarship document:
  • High school seniors or individuals holding a GED that are planning to begin postsecondary studies in the 2014/2015 school year
  • High school graduates currently enrolled in college, university, community college, or trade/ professional schools
  • Adults holding a high school diploma or GED pursuing additional educational opportunities
  • Seniors must have 2.5 GPA or higher
  • The student's primary residence must be an Affordable Housing Management Association (AHMA) member "affiliated property"
  • A Resident Services Coordinator/Resident Activities Director or site manager must be listed on the resident's application as lead contact
  • The site manager must provide an emailed response that the household is in good standing
Students have until May 30, 2014 to complete the online application and gather the needed documents. Applications must be completed on line at

The exact number of awards and the total amount of money to be awarded in 2014, will be determined during the selection process. The NAHMA Educational Foundation anticipates minimum individual awards to begin at $1000.00 for the 2014/2015 school year.
