Rural Health Success Story Contest
This year's Rural Health Success Story Contest was a huge success! If you haven't checked out the winning stories on the RHI page yet, a brief summary of each of the stories is below.
Missoula County's Rural Clinic in Seeley, MT: The Missoula County Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) has been holding an outlying clinic in Seeley Lake for over 25 years. This rural clinic makes services available families living outside of MIssoula who fall below 185% of the U.S. Poverty Income Guidelines. The clinic does more than provide health care services to those in need, it also fosters a sense of community in a very rural place.
Toole County's Project Active: Project Activate is a community-wide initiative that challenges the negative stereotype of aging and offers information and opportunities that support physical function and vitality through a full lifespan. Project Activate reaches out to the public with weekly exercise activity sheets distributed through the Senior Centers, Meals on Wheels, Marias Medical Center and other county organizations. This program is cultivating an ageless attitude in Toole County.
Providence St. Joseph's Medical Center Disaster Preparedness Drill: Providence St. Joseph Medical Center hosted the first regional, inter-facility full-scale exercise ever initiated in Lake County. This particular scenario focused on the possibility of an active shooter and how the different facilities would respond in an effective, coordinated way.
