holy spirit

Come, Holy Spirit, fill our hearts and kindle them in the fire of your love.  Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.  And you shall renew the face of the earth.

FROM OUR CHAIRMAN'S HEART

Blessings, All!

In the previous edition of our Newsletter, I wrote an article titled "Perspective, Perception and Patience." That article was focused mainly on our interaction with each other in this community, and now I want to move that focus outward. I don't want to take the space here to reiterate, so, if you have not read the article, please take the 2 to 3 minutes it requires to read it; it's on our wonderful Website.

Just as we have our Perspective about, and Perception of, things within our community, so do those who have not yet experienced a Weekend. I believe that our "Patience" - and other evidences of the Holy Spirit (Remember Galatians 5:22-23?) can go a long way towards helping those people DESIRE to have a Tres Dias Experience.

We recently announced a reduction in Candidates' Weekend Fees that was a response to the survey we sent out about sponsorship. We trust that the Weekend fee of $75 per Candidate effective now through the entire year of 2014 will, indeed, encourage you to find people to sponsor. However, many of us feel that there is much more to be done that does not involve money. One of the ways we propose is that you start or find an "Open" Reunion Group and invite a potential Candidate to be part of it.

You read that correctly! A Reunion Group may have participants who have not been through a Tres Dias or similar Weekend. Any group so formed is simply called an Open Reunion Group. What better way to give people who question the value of Tres Dias, or have heard/read negative things about our ministry, the opportunity to see CCIA - True Piety based on Study put into Action by Christian Leaders to impact our Environments for Christ - than in a Reunion Group? Our 4th Day (Post-Weekend) team and our Webmaster have teamed up to make finding or starting a Reunion Group an easy process. Check out the Website or contact them at postweekend@tdng.org. As a matter of fact, the Secretariat is open to having you bring potential Candidates to our Secuelas. A Secuela should have, according to Tres Dias Essentials, "a form of floating reunion group."

I also welcome the opportunity to meet with any Pastor and/or Church Staff whom you feel would benefit from the testimonies of other Pastors and Secretariat leadership. We believe that Pastors who understand the positive impact our Weekends have traditionally and consistently had on Lay Leaders in the Local Church will be great encouragers of sponsorship and attendance by members of their congregations. Mick McLaughlin, Secretariat Spiritual Director, and I will be working on specific plans for Pastors involved in Tres Dias to help us with visits. We also have a very good DVD produced by Tres Dias International with the testimonies of several Pastors from different denominations about their personal Tres Dias experiences. If you would like to borrow it, please let me know.

My Brothers and Sisters, we have one of the most favored ministries in which I've been privileged to serve. We all should identify those in our churches who have the potential to be better Servant Leaders in the Kingdom and offer them the opportunity to have the Palanca of a Tres Dias Weekend.

DeColores!

In Christ's Lavish Love,

George

THE WORD

open bible

"Blessed is the man you discipline, O Lord, the man you teach from your law; you grant him relief from days of trouble till a pit is dug for the wicked.  For the Lord will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance.  Judgement will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it."

SPONSORSHIP ENCOURAGEMENT

Do you remember the feeling of love and Grace from your weekend? How about how it continues in your Fourth Day?  What an incredible blessing it was to attend a Tres Dias weekend! Let's make the effort to help others receive those same blessings! We are all part of this wonderful community, and the world needs Jesus more than ever! Many of you have sponsored candidates in the past year or two, some not for awhile. Now would be the perfect time to sponsor again! North Georgia Tres Dias has dropped the candidate weekend fee to $75.00 through 2014! We have done this in an effort to get sponsorship back up.

It is no secret that over the past several years, many of us have struggled financially. Our hope is that setting a minimal fee will allow more men and women the opportunity to have a wonderful weekend of fellowship, worship, food, and love! Please take the time to pray and consider people that would enjoy such a weekend.

If you have not already visited the new website, check it out here: www.tdng.org. The newly designed site is packed full of information, downloadable applications, and it even has a place that explains the weekend for potential candidates. Let us be the disciples that Jesus wants us to be.

May God's Face always shine upon you!

Robert Arsenault

SPECIAL REQUEST FROM OUR CHAIRMAN

Blessings Former Rectors and Secretariat Members,

If you are a past Rector AND have served at least one full term on the Tres Dias of North Georgia AND have served on a TDNG Weekend in the past 3 Years AND you are not a Spiritual Director or other Ordained Clergy, I would like to have you contact me about potential service on the TDNG Secretariat.

Being the generous soul that I am, I've doubled the pay for each Secretariat position, so this could be a real opportunity. Oh yes, and Our Father - who rewards those who are faithful out of His Riches in Glory - has something amazing in store for you, if it is HIS SPIRIT that moves you to reply.

E-mail please to chairman@tdng.org, and give me the best contact method/number and time to reach you.

I thank you for your past service and pray that you will always answer God's call as you already have proven you will.

In Christ's Lavish Love,

George

WOULD YOU LIKE TO SERVE ON AN UPCOMING WEEKEND?

Upcoming Rectors are always looking for willing servants. Especially those who have never served or haven't served in 3 years or longer.

If you're willing to serve, a great way to get your name to an upcoming Rector is to attend 1 of our Secuelas. Our upcoming Rectors who are in attendance will be introduced at our Secuelas & you will have a chance to meet them & to pass your name on to them.

Another way is to put your name & contact information on our sign up lists at the front table (where we get our name tags). These lists are given to our Secretariat Leaders who then pass them on to our upcoming Rectors.

Please note that this will not guarantee you a spot on the next team, but it will greatly increase your chance to receive a call to serve in the near future.

SECRETARIAT POSITIONS COMING OPEN

The following positions are coming open on the TDNG Secretariat. If you are interested in serving or know a fellow Pescadore who might also be interested, please forward that information to George Flury at  chairman@tdng.org. All Secretariat nominees must follow the qualifications set forth in Section 6.5.1 of the TDNG Constitution and By-Laws*.

Men's Leader - Omega

The purpose of the Men's and Women's Leaders positions on the Tres Dias of North Georgia Secretariat is to guide, direct and support the upcoming rectors in team selection, training and weekend execution. This position helps the upcoming rectors to understand and follow Secretariat guidelines. A Men or Women's Leader must have previously served as a rector in the TDNG Community, as well as meet the qualifications set forth in Section 6.5.1 of the TDNG Constitution and By-Laws. This position came open on 6/31/13.

Post-Weekend (4th Day) - Omega

The Tres Dias of North Georgia Post-Weekend or Fourth Day is responsible for coordinating and organizing Fourth Day activities for TDNG and preparing the fourth day packet for each weekend. The Fourth Day couple must have served on at least three Tres Dias weekends, as well as meet the qualifications set forth in Section 6.5.1 of the TDNG Constitution and By-Laws. This position comes open on 6/31/14.

Lifestyle Commensurate with Biblical Leadership:

  • Must be living a life that is not in a state of rebellion against God.  A state of rebellion against God can best be described as an unrepentant, open and active participation in or advocacy of activities contrary to the commands (for example, "The Ten Commandments") and guidelines in Scripture* for holy living and Christian leadership. Some examples (although not limited to these areas) are:
    • Dependence upon alcohol or illegal drugs;
    • Involvement in illegal activities, whereby such involvement knowingly violates federal, state or local laws, statutes or ordinances;
    • Involvement in lustful, immoral, or perverted activities, such as, but not limited to pornography and/or any sexual relationship outside of a lawful marriage between a man and a woman;
    • Involvement in the occult or Satanic worship;
    • Openly professes allegiance to any non-Christian religion or organization which denies the deity of Jesus Christ.
    • Must have additional qualifications approved by the Secretariat and the Assembly.

*Note: for purposes of standards and principles, Tres Dias ascribes to those stated in the "Authorized King James Version" of the Bible of 1611 (KJV).

SPONSORSHIP (cont'd)

CAREFULLY CONSIDER POTENTIAL CANDIDATES

Tres Dias is right for many people but not for everyone.  As you consider who to sponsor, prayerfully evaluate each potential candidate's readiness.  Some considerations should be:

a.  Non-Christians and persons with no relationship with Christ or His church should not be sponsored.
b.  Tres Dias is not for persons with severe emotional problems or undergoing a crisis.  They may not be ready for the intense personal introspection cultivated through the TD method and the team is not equipped to do psychological counseling.
c.  A decision to attend a Tres Dias weekend should be made willingly, not through coercion.  Continue to offer Tres Dias sponsorship as appropriate; however, a potential sponsor should not feel like a failureif a prospect says "no".  The timing might be wrong.  We believe God will cause the right people to respond to the invitation and get them on the Weekend in His timing.
d.  It is a place for those who desire a closer walk with the Lord, whatever their starting point is.

Remember:

a.  Wise Sponsorship is always prayerful and purposeful.
b.  Candidates are sponsored for all three phases: Pre-weekend, Weekend, and Fourth Day, not just the weekend!
c.  NO SECRETS! Never give someone the impression you can't tell them something about Tres Dias.  Answer ALL questions.  It is OK to tell them there are 15 talks, communion and chapel every day, discussion groups and great food.  Encourage them to check out the Tres Dias website -  www.tresdias.org or www.tdng.org - and brochures.  Even if you tell everyone every detail about the weekend, God would still have something special for them.
REUNION GROUPS

  reunion

We are pleased to announce that there is interest in starting three new reunion groups for women. The areas involved are East Cobb/Roswell/North Fulton, West Cobb/Paulding, and Calhoun/Dalton.

If you are interested in being in a reunion group in one of these areas, please contact postweekend@tdng.org.

CAMP OF COLORS

COC SIDE

The Camp of Colors is a special place with a special history.  It was an elementary school, then a junk yard, then a place of redemption and blessing.  In the 20 years since the first weekend at the Camp of Colors (NGMVN 6), upwards of 75,000 people have served on, or attended, a weekend.  (If you served twice, you count as two).

Sometimes you have to know where you came from in order to appreciate where you are -

Inside the Rollo Room

Outside the Rollo Room

This building was originally a place filled with the laughter and hopes of children.  Then it became a place filled with junk and in disrepair.  Then it was redeemed and restored, but still needs daily attention in order to realize its potential.  Just like us.

Since the last update, we have reworked the exhaust fans in dorms D and E to reduce the noise they make, and will be putting an exhaust fan in the Rector's room.

We also replaced the door frame for the kitchen storage room and added additional lighting in that room.

We are still looking for quotes for constructing a bathroom for the Prayer Cha dorm.  If you are interested in bidding on this work, please contact one of your TDNG Camp of Colors representatives.

The COC Board is continuing to address the moisture issue in the storage area under the pavilion.  We have determined several work items to address this issue and are soliciting qoutes for de-humidifying and/or conditioning the space.

The COC Board would like to ask each community to remind its members of two things: 1)Do not park or drive on the pavillion - this includes motorcycles, and 2)Do not leave foodstuffs in the storage areas unless they are in water and air tight containers.  The doors to the storage are frequently left open during weekends and we do not want to do anything to invite critters in to the area.

We appreciate your patience as we continue to investigate and prioritize the work that needs to be done. If you have any comments or suggestions concerning the Camp of Colors, contact your COC Representatives, Ray Skibba at ray.skibba@comcast.net and/or Hank Gravitt at gravitt1218@gmail.com.

The Camp of Colors exists as a place for Three Day Movements to hold weekends.  The Board is comprised of members from each community that holds weekends at the Camp as well as "at large" positions.  For information about the Board of Directors, the history of the Camp, weekend schedules, etc., visit
www.campofcolors.org

TRES DIAS INTERNATIONAL ASSEMBLY

Each year, the Tres Dias International Secretariat holds an Assembly.  At this Assembly, TD Executives and delegates from the local communities conduct the business of Tres Dias and have training sessions on a variety of topics.  Each year, a local community hosts the Assembly.  The 2013 Assembly was hosted by Birmingham Tres Dias in Birmingham, Alabama on July, 12-14.

Next year, 2014, the Assembly will be in Atlanta!!!  The Secretariat of Tres Dias of North Georgia has agreed to host the Assembly and has approved a core group to plan and organize the meeting.

This group consists of:
  • Jim (LCUR 9) and Cathy (LCUR 7) Brooks
  • Dan (TDNG 5) and Gayle (TDNG 5) Moss
  • Anson (TDNG 6)and Becki (TDNG 8) Fields

Beau (TDNG 29) Bruce is our liason with Tres Dias International.

We need your help!!!

We want this Assembly to be one of excellence.  (Work as unto the Lord).  If a lot of people all do a little, we can show southern hospitality, unity in the Spirit, and do a job that reflects positively on TDNG.

If you have any questions, or would like to be involved in helping with this meeting, email us at 2014assembly@tdng.org

DID YOU KNOW?

question mark

There are 15 sections in the Tres Dias cross, each representing one of the talks on the weekend.  This represents the concept that there are not 15 separate talks, but one talk with 15 parts.

CHECK US OUT ON FACEBOOK

Tres Dias of North Georgia has a Facebook page.  Stay in touch with other community members at "Tres Dias of North Georgia".  This is an excellent place to share news with your community, especially "Needs and Seeds", such as job openings, help and/or employment needed, etc.

It is a closed group and you must ask permission to join.

There is also an "unofficial" prayer and praise group for Tres Dias and Vida Nueva.  Share your praise reports and prayer requests at "TD/VN Prayer & Praise".

TRES DIAS GUIDE FOR TEAM MEMBERS

The following continues a series of excerpts from The Tres Dias Guide for Team Members.

THE TALKS OF THE THREE DAYS

Each day begins with a meditation, given by clergy, which presents the direction of the day.  All rollos for the remainder of the day pursue that direction.  The final rollo is given by a lay member who has made the message of that day a personal living testimony of living the Christian faith.  This rollista demonstrates that the message is worthy and workable.

THE TALKS OF THE THIRD DAY

The talks of the Third Day are: Christ's Message to the Pescadore, Environments, Life in Grace, Christian Community in Action, Reunion Groups, and Living in the Fourth Day.

The third day, as each of the two previous days, begins with a meditation, Christ's Message to the Pescadore, which sets the course for the day.  The message is that He has called each of us to be followers and to be His leaders in all areas of our daily lives.  We are to join in Christ's suffering for the world through self-denial...for the sake of the Risen Christ.  It requires working in the Christian community.

SECRETARIAT REMINDERS

reminder
The Secretariat would like to remind you that it is inappropriate to bring children to send-off, closing, serenade or other Tres Dias functions that are not "family affairs".

We appreciate your understanding and compliance with these Tres Dias requirements.

-   -   -

Also a reminder to sponsors - Please urge your candidates to leave all cell phones & electronic devices at home so that they can block out the outside world & spend 3 days focusing totally on God and what He has in store for them.

  -   -   -
There has been a growing issue with sponsors bringing candidates to send-off that have not been called for the weekend by the Secretariat.  We would ask that, to avoid embarrassment to yourselves and your candidate, that you NOT bring anyone to attend a weekend that has not been called by the Secretariat.  If you have a candidate that can attend at the last minute, write "last minute" on the top of the application and the application will be handled accordingly.  For questions about this, or any area of sponsorship, contact the appropriate Secretariat member.

-   -   -

We would like to remind everyone in the community that names and addresses from weekend rosters, team lists, and or the TDNG database are for TDNG use only.  This information should not be used for solicitation, or any other purpose not related to TDNG business.

-  -  -

Each Rector who serves the community agrees to be responsible for the collection of the team fees for their weekend. In some cases, it has been interpreted that they would have to pay for any fees that were not paid by team members. This is not the intent. It is the Rector's responsibility to ensure that a full weekend fee is collected and paid to the Secretariat, but the fee is not his/her personal liability. Any shortfall should be taken care of by scholarships and remaining incidental fees.
-   -   -

If you have a need to inform the community of a ministry, prayer need, employment opportunity or need, we encourage you to use the Facebook page mentioned elsewhere in this  newsletter.
