holy spirit

Come, Holy Spirit, fill our hearts and kindle them in the fire of your love.  Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.  And you shall renew the face of the earth.

FROM OUR CHAIRMAN'S HEART

God's Favor

Our God is always faithful! Do I hear an AMEN?

Kate and I have been going through one of the busiest times in our 21 years of marriage over the past two months, and God has seen us through every step and phase of each circumstance. He has also continued to show His Favor to and through this Community in some very specific ways.

I have been reminded of the themes and Scripture verses from a number of Tres Dias Weekends on which I've been privileged to serve as a number of these events have unfolded.

God showed us several markers (our own Ebenezer Stones) like Dell Howard Shared with us from 1 Samuel 7:12 to remind us that, "The Lord Hath Helped us This Far." We were often reminded, as Michael Edwards was, that "We Walk by Faith, Not by Sight." And, we saw time after time, as Bob Watt put it, that "God Has our Back." The Angels he sent to help with the work were in the persons of members of my Reunion Group, Secretariat Members who shared more of the load when conflicts arose in our schedule and tight deadlines prevented my direct involvement and other members of the great Christian Community in Action from TDNG and our Apostles Church Family/Small Group.

The news of at least one of the ways God has shown His Favor has to do with our Secuelas, and you will find that news below. Also in this edition, there is a wonderful testimonial of Service on the Secretariat by Steve LaMarsh. Please read this entire Newsletter; it is always a good source of information.

We also have great news about definitive and already effective changes to our Website that will soon help us forget the struggles we've had for almost 3 years with access and response to requests. News of these changes will be announced in a special edition, coming soon. In this process, we welcome our new Webmaster/Tech Support member on the Secretariat, Daniel Thomas.

We welcome your feedback and thank you for your continued support of TDNG!

De Colores, and,

In Christ's Lavish Love,

George

NOTE FROM RECTOR OF WOMEN'S #126

Thank you for the honor, joy, and privilege of being asked to serve as Rector of #126.  It has been an incredibly beautiful journey with the Lord.  I believe He had been preparing my heart for something for a couple of years.  I had asked Him at the beginning of 2012 to give me something to do in His kingdom that I could only do through His strength...something bigger than me!  He taught me so much about abiding, waiting, listening, and discerning.  He was so faithful!

The team was so beautiful, loving, gracious, and gentle.  They served with hearts of love and kindness.

There was a beautiful anointing over the team meetings and the weekend.  We all agreed our job was to love and serve and allow the Holy Spirit to change lives.  We had two dramatic salvations, tons left at the cross, and so much more.  I praise Him.

I am forever changed,

Joan Kiger

SPEAK LORD, YOUR SERVANT IS LISTENING

Speak Lord, your servant is listening. I Sam. 3:10

Serving Christ by serving others

Steve LaMarsh, Alpha Men's Leader

Having been called a fourth time, young Samuel responded to the Lord, by listening. I often have a greater struggle with that part of my prayer life than I do petitioning God for what I need.

When you hear the voice of God calling your name, how do you respond?  After the fourth time the Lord calls, do you recognize His voice? Do you stop talking to God long enough to hear what He has to say to you? These are pointed questions, but they are worthy of consideration every time we pray.

Serving on the Secretariat has shown me the great ways the Lord works through willing servants. People like you who have listened to the call of God, and then responded. That was how I reached the decision to serve. I knew when God called it was my time to do something for the Tres Dias community that had been such a blessing in my life for so many years. I have the honor of working with new Rectors and it is a great joy!

How about you? Do you have two hours per month to attend a Secretariat meeting? Are you willing to pitch in to help support the various activities that go into putting on a TDNG weekend? Do you have the gift of service? Do you enjoy seeing God use your talents to bless others? Are you willing to step up and say: "God has been good to me and I want to help others be blessed too"?

There are many ways to help and you will not find a more caring group of people to serve with than those on the Secretariat. People who are totally dedicated to making every Tres Dias weekend a truly life-changing experience. Whatever your area of interest, don't expect that someone else will do the work- get involved!

So, has the Lord called you to serve? Are you listening? Contact George Flury, Chairman, or any of us on the Secretariat to find out more about your place of service.

From personal experience I can tell you, Jesus will enrich your life and keep you focused on pleasing Him. I believe there are those reading this now who can say "yes, I am listening, and yes, I am willing".

De Colores!

CAMP OF COLORS

COC SIDE
The sidewalk to the chapel has been widened!!  The width of the sidewalk has been doubled, the drainage improved and the "drop-offs" eliminated.  It is much easier now to go "two-by-two".

By early next month, a railing will be installed at the area approaching the pavillion, next to the roadway.

The search for a replacement golf cart is underway, and we hope to have one by the end of the month.

Work continues on resolving the roof leak in the a candidate dorm.  The company that installed the roofing has gone out of business, and we are investigating the chances of getting warranty resolution from the manufacturer of the product that was installed last year.  We appreciate your patience as we trying to avoid spending more of God's money until this avenue has been explored.

Work also continues to get bids for the building out of a bathroom in the storeroom off the prayer cha dorm, and to repair/replace the HVAC system in the Chapel.

There are always opportunities for maintenance and improvements when you are dealing with a building this old holding large crowds 35 weekends a year.  We appreciate your patience as we continue to investigate and prioritize the work that needs to be done.  If you have any comments or suggestions concerning the Camp of Colors, contact your COC Representatives, Ray Skibba at ray.skibba@comcast.net and/or Hank Gravitt at gravitt1218@gmail.com.

TRES DIAS GUIDE FOR TEAM MEMBERS

The following continues a series of excerpts from The Tres Dias Guide for Team Members.

THE TALKS OF THE THREE DAYS

Each day begins with a meditation, given by clergy, which presents the direction of the day.  All rollos for the remainder of the day pursue that direction.  The final rollo is given by a lay member who has made the message of that day a personal living testimony of living the Christian faith.  This rollista demonstrates that the message is worthy and workable.

THE TALKS OF THE SECOND DAY

The pattern of talks begun on the first day is continued on the second day: an alternation of talks by clergy and laity.  It begins with a morning meditation on THE FIGURE OF CHRIST and includes a recitation of Psalms and prayers from the PILGRIM'S GUIDE.  This meditation opens the theme of conversion for the day: after we meet and accept Christ in faith, how do we obey Him?

The rollos of the second day, starting with the STUDY rollow, show the way.  The candidates are taught that we can come to know, trust, and obey God in Christ through the written and spoken word of the Bible.  Other insights preserved in the writings of Christian men and women throughout the centuries are also available for our study.  In addition, certain modern media are mentioned, which assist us in our Christian Study.  With prayer as our guide, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, these study aids will teach us to not only know Christ, but to know Him better and want to follow Him.

Reading and study, however, are only part of the answer.  We also come to know God in Christ through various methods which HE has chosen and provided.  In Tres Dias, we refer to them as:  SACRED MOMENTS OF GRACE.

Next issue - More talks of the Second Day

SECRETARIAT REMINDERS

reminder
The Secretariat would like to remind you that it is inappropriate to bring children to send-off, closing, serenade or other Tres Dias functions that are not "family affairs".

Further, only those that have attended a recognized 3-day weekend may attend Tres Dias functions.

We appreciate your understanding and compliance with these Tres Dias requirements.

-   -   -

Also a reminder to sponsors - Please urge your candidates to leave all cell phones & electronic devices at home so that they can block out the outside world & spend 3 days focusing totally on God and what He has in store for them.

  -   -   -
There has been a growing issue with sponsors bringing candidates to send-off that have not been called for the weekend by the Secretariat.  We would ask that, to avoid embarrassment to yourselves and your candidate, that you NOT bring anyone to attend a weekend that has not been called by the Secretariat.  If you have a candidate that can attend at the last minute, write "last minute" on the top of the application and the application will be handled accordingly.  For questions about this, or any area of sponsorship, contact the appropriate Secretariat member.

-   -   -

We would like to remind everyone in the community that names and addresses from weekend rosters, team lists, and or the TDNG database are for TDNG use only.  This information should not be used for solicitation, or any other purpose not related to TDNG business.

-  -  -

Each Rector who serves the community agrees to be responsible for the collection of the team fees for their weekend. In some cases, it has been interpreted that they would have to pay for any fees that were not paid by team members. This is not the intent. It is the Rector's responsibility to ensure that a full weekend fee is collected and paid to the Secretariat, but the fee is not his/her personal liability. Any shortfall should be taken care of by scholarships and remaining incidental fees.

If you have a need to inform the community of a ministry, prayer need, employment opportunity or need, we encourage you to use the Facebook page mentioned elsewhere in this  newsletter.
